SOURCE: I have a dewalt DW505 electric hammer drill that makes noise when in use, forward and reverse. It sounds like one or more worn out gears. Could this be caused by some other defective part or am I on t
Make sure it's UNPLUGGED! (RALOL)
Seriously though, go to this website, http://www.ereplacementparts.com/dewalt-dw505-type-hammer-drill-parts-c-1009_9661_2280.html
they have an exploded view of your drill that you can download; it's in a pdf format; the parts are numbered so you can easily identify them. They even have the manufacturer's part number listed in case you need to order a replacement part.
The illustration will also come in handy once you take the drill apart and you have to put it back together; especially if you have to walk away from the project for several days- waiting for the replacement part(s).
I would suggest having a large- private work space to take the drill motor apart on; where you can neatly separate the pieces and cover them, should the need arise to leave them as is, in a disassembled state; free from the kids or wife (not on the dining room table where you know someone will tamper and move things around- saves on arguments, too!
Best wishes on your project- be well.
