Sounds like the incorrect RAM (SUPPORTS PC2100 AND PC2700 DDR SDRAM SODIMMs) for that laptop. Also try re-seating the RAM in the socket and that is not installed backwards (hard to do , but I've seen it)

I just put a new 9 cell battery, two new 2GB ram cards & a new, blank hard drive in our Dell Inspiron 1525. But the screen does not seem to work when I turn it on, or after I put in an installation...

Remove the battery, and connect the AC power. Then, try to start it.

Disconnect the AC power, and remove the "new" disk-drive.
Then, connect the AC power, and try to start it.

Disconnect the AC power. Remove the "new" RAM, and put the "old" RAM back in.
Then, connect the AC power, and try to start it.

If it does start, add the "new" disk-drive, and try again.

I removed the hard drive and put it back now it just beeps it's a dell deminson 4200 desktop

just Refix RAM sticks and start your pc.Its better you refix the hard disk connectors also. Normally its because RAM issue. Just open the CPU cover and clean the RAM slots and refix RAMs. You can put one by one if you have multiple RAMs. check with different RAM slots. If you still get this sound you need to get new RAMs

RAM will look like as in below picture

My Dell Inspron 8500 runs really slow how can I speed it up

Lowest cost solution is defrag and clean-up. Go to My Computer, right click on the c: drive and select properties. First do the clean-up, then click on the tools tab and defrag the disk.

If you have less than a quarter of your hard drive space free, consider a new hard drive as well. Or just uninstalling the programs you don't use and archiving the music and pictures to cds (or DVDs if you have an external burner--the 8500 has a DVD reader only, if I remember right.) Gives you back-up and access.

Next would be ram. I'd recommend at least a gig for XP sp3 any more.

Lastly, If you do need a hd and ram, see what specials are available on new laptops. What you get from selling yours, plus what you'd save from not doing the upgrades will probably buy you a machine that has 10x the hard drive and 6-8x the ram of your old one. Plus a DVD burner.

My hardrive may have failed. Can it be fixed?

First, you hard drive is OK.
You have some another trouble, small or maybe big.
Open the case and look you capacitors, if they are bad you will see ( like blow up).
If that OK, you must look you RAM, try another RAM.
If that OK you must look you AGP card, if you have AGP card.

If this things don´t help you, you need someone good
to fix that, or you can bay another.

You can also try clear CMOS.

My dell laptop wont start at all. I tried to re install OS and it's the same and says there is some error. Pls help

It sounds like a failing hard drive. However, if it's a SATA hard drive and you are trying to install Windows XP, you may have to disable SATA support in the system BIOS before you do the reinstall. XP does not support SATA hard drives [in most cases]. A bad stick of ram can also cause a similar problem. You may want to take one stick out at a time and reboot. If the error goes away, replace the bad stick of ram.

Slow computer

I'd speak to them again, sounds like you have a faulty stick of RAM, if it freezes then it usually means one of the hex sections of the stick isn't working correctly.

Dell 1100 won't start up

Your RAM is failing. Please make sure the laptop is OFF, and put it up side down. You will see a panel ( i have an 1100 too ) in the middle of the laptop. Its about 2x4 inches. Unscrew the 1 screw. Remove one stick of RAM gently. Put the cover back on and turn the laptop on. If that works then throw away that ram stick you took out. If it doesn't work, take out the RAM stick that is still in there, and put the other one in by itself. If the problem still exists you've got some real issues, but i think thats the problem.

Dell Inspiron 1200 laptop

Sounds like you have a bad Stick of ram.If you have 2 sticks remove one then try to load the operating system. If that doesnt work replace it with the other one and try to boot.If you are not sure what ram is leave a comment and I will explain. If neither work buy a new stick of ram and that should take care of your problem.Rate me if this works!GOOD LUCK!
