Sometimes this is just a simple trask of cleaning the ink off the rails of the ink carriage.try that first and see if it rectifies the grinding sound. also check that you have not got soemthing stuck in the cogs on the R side of the platten roller mechanism

I was in the process of making copies, when my Epson RX700 suddenly made a loud grinding noise. It then stopped working and displayed an error message: Scanner error occurred...Please see...

There are two drives in the printer. One moves the print head (cartridge) back and forth across the paper. Check to see if the "rubber band" drive belt is slipping or broken off. There is also a roller motor which feeds the paper. This has nylon gears which can make a grinding sound if one of the gears gets stuck. Make sure there are no pieces of paper stuck in the gears.

Hp psc 2110 incorrect ink cartridge message.

Hi plabonne,

I hopped out to HP's support site for stats on your cartridge and found some info at this link:
http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/shopping/supplies_model.do?product_code=C8648A&jumpid=oc_R1002_USENC-002_HP%20PSC%202110%20All-in-One%20Printer&lang=en&cc=us

are you using an HP 57 Tri-color cartridge? HP printers work best with HP cartridges and often have problems with refilled cartridges. the grinding noise you're hearing makes me wonder if the cartridge isn't seated all the way in its little carridge (the plastic part that holds the cartridge). have you had a chance to slip teh cartridge back out and try gently slipping it back in again?

here's another link to try for info for this model of printer (HP's support site), with specifics about your error message about half way down the page:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&cc=us&docname=bpu05206&dlc=en&product=79488

hope this helps!

Printer makes noise while cleaning heads

Grinding noise is most likely caused by the carriage lock getting stuck and holding the print head at the home position. The noise is caused by the toothed belt that pulls the head back and forth, skipping over the splines on the motor drive wheel. If you have been able to print since the problem occurred, chances are that it has freed itself up and will be fine. Regarding the loss of cyan & magenta output, follow the solution given in my previous posts to complete a manual under-head cleaning cycle. This should get you going. Check this previous post for cleaning info: http://www.fixya.com/support/t137335-problem_print_outs_from_printer
