My Optimus oscillating heater works for about 10mins and then overheats causing it to shut off. It shouldn't be overheating in my beyond cold living room.

Let's see if we can figure this out together-- Here are a few questions we need to know to start trouble-shooting:
How old is the unit?-- Is it a Pedestal or Floor Mount unit-- or one of the newer TOWER models?
Some have remote Temperature sensors-- does your?
Can you hear the fan running-- does it sound like it did when it was new? When it first turns on, is the heat coming out, nice and warm?-- and is the fan nicely pushing the heat out?

Let me know, and we will advance to the next step-- Mack

Why wont my dyson fan oscillate?

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

Your Dyson Air Multiplier AM01 desk fan should oscillate when you press the oscillation button on the base:

Fan comes on but will not blow cold air

This fan has a blower motor which will eventually fail.
The fan will still oscillate , but the blower motor will burn out. The motor thermal fuse will fail , lower bearing failure and armature burn out. No replacement motor less than fan price so, when it goes buy a better longer lasting fan.

Squeak in aloha breeze tower fan model 05538

If the model is equipped with a fan, and the noise occurs even when not oscillating it must be a fan/blower motor. If it is a squeak. A squeal could be an electical component going bad which is always bad. I would definitely take some bottom drawer tools , ie. screwdrivers and WD-40 and oil that squeaking motor. Being a fan it goes through alot of air pollutants. That tends to build up on the shaft and can work its way into the bearing seal. Good luck.

Aloha Breeze Tower Fan Will Not Oscillate

hi,

yes this is the oscillation motor, and they generally arent servicable, and need to be replaced, you can try and oil it, sometimes they have small air vents, and you can do a voltage test with a voltmeter but I believe the motor has failed or is gummed up, you can try and take it apart, they are held together with bent metal compression areas along the circumfrence of the motor, try sewing machine oil, you might have to do some research to find a replacement motor, maybe take it to a local clock shop, those motors are very close to what they used to put in old wall clocks.

good luck

I am trying to fix an Oscillating Tower Fan.

Most fan motors for fan over running have an internal overload. once it trips, it will not reset. it is a solid state device. it looks like a flat device or a small bullet device. if you've figured out how to take the fan apart, you could just remove the device and connect the two wires together and the fan will run. you won't have any protection on the motor however. the windings run warm, but if the bearings run dry the motor will slow down and the windings will get hot. this is the reason for the overlaod device - protection. its your call what you want to have.
