Have above mentiioned DVD/VHS player..... VHS works but DVD has a split screen - showing 2 same pictures of DVD....with PSCAN imposed in the center....how can this be fixed? I believe it is in the Remote ...is that correct?

That is correct. Most digital TV has the function for Picture in Picture and Split screen. To change or enable it you need to go to the Menu then Setting then select either Split screen. It should also tell you the source of the second picture. Yours most likely have only one source selected for the two screens.

PSCAN is a short form for Progressive Scan - a line scanning format used for High Definition TV. Standard TVs use Interlaced scanning. On your DVD/VHS player, the VHS is an analogue signal recorded in interlaced mode so is fine for a standard TV. The DVD is a digital signal and cazn be processed for progressive scan output in order to produce a better picture on a High definition TV (or a TV capable of handling progressive scan). If you cannot to your TV via the HD outputs then you should be able to set the DVD player to output interlaced instead of progressive scan.

The dvd player displays a big yellow box in the middle of the screen with PSCAN with an exclamation point above it. Also the screen is showing the right side with a wide split between them. This is the...

I found the manual for this dvd player online. There is a switch on the back of the player. PSCAN is Progressive Scan. Some TV's are not compatible with this function so the switch must be turned off. This worked and I was watching a dvd last night!

I work for Memorex technical support. Our customer service phone number is 1-800-919-3647.

On the back of your player you should see a switch that can slide back and forth that's marked PSCAN. Slide the switch into the opposite position from which it's in now. The should solve your problem.

Split screen with pscan warning on

I had the exact same problem and I consulted the manual. All you have to do is turn the PSCAN swtich off. It is located on the back of the dvd player. Then turn the dvd player back on and your problem should be fixed.
