Question about HP COLOR LASERJET CP 3505 N PRINTER
Magenta prints as a dark orange color. No reds print at all. Replaced magenta cartridge recently. Dirty mirrors or defective magenta??
Dirty mirrors will gives you dull color images..It seems color combination faulty..
chk original cartridges installed? or refilled cartridges?
Take supply status page..
chk colors..If color is dull(light) clean laser scanner assembly mirrors.
Do the color calibration..
Print from other file..

Testimonial: "Update: When printing from MS Word, changing text colors to red, red prints fine. However printing a photo, or image, red/magenta is bad. This leads me to believe the cartridge is fine. Also, test page and consumables level page prints nicely."

try this link : I followed the directions and fixed the problem. the instructions that came with the new printhead weren't really complete.
Here's essentially all I did for my fix - Opened the printer top, turned the printer off. Removed the "bad" printhead, cleaned the metal contacts on the printhead and printer with windex. Closed the printer. Turned it on. waited for it to reset. Opened the printer. Turned the printer off again. Installed the printhead. Closed the lid. Plugged the printer in again. When it was ready I accessed the HP toolbox and alligned the printheads and cleaned the printheads. It worked. Here's a link with photos.

I just encountered this problem with my 2600n purchased in June2008. I'm not very mechanical and had no difficulty following the instructions providing in the link above (Feb 04, 2009) and solving the problem on my own. I have printed well over 10,000 pages on this printer and it ran like a dream until the dusty mirrors interfered with color quality. Now its back to usual top-notch quality and I'm thrilled. Thanks for the posting of service instructions for a quick DIY and saving me the expense of servicing, recycling and/or purchasing a new unit.

Usage of compatible ink and leave the printer idle too long may cause printhead clogging
What should you do if you get this problem. Relax; you may recover the printhead by unclogging it. Follow these steps to unclog the printhead
1. Right click in the printer driver name
2. Select Properties menu
3. Click Maintenance tab
4. Click on cleaning sign for regular cleaning. Perform this up to 3 times.
5. If this does not work, perform Deep Cleaning
And if that not work
Some times it needs a good clean up but this is up to you if you want to do this,
But after you done this prime the printer so it gets the inks back in the heads, it may take a little time for the inks to work.
There is fluid cleaner for this but I can never find any in the shops the only ones I seen is when they sell them in Tesco but they come in with the ink refill bottles so I just use worm water by it self on a cloth and dabbing on the heads to clean them, it will not harm the heads but not to much water.
Some heads are on the inks them self but some have them inside the printer so I not know your printer so if the heads are inside you need to get them out you may find that some heads will just clip out put some need to be unscrewed so you got to know how they come out so be careful and not push to hard on them, if the heads are on the ink then it is a easy job to clean them,
It worth a try it worked for me more than ones.
Please all I ask is call back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one, so I will keep on helping.

Dirty laser unit - needs (careful) cleaning internally.
See ' Printing Weak Magenta', 'Printing Light Magenta' for HP CM1015, HP Color Laserjet 1600, 2600, 2605.
All the same laser unit
