Hello Y'all,
My laptop is not exactly a c610, but very close (it's a c600), but anyway... Ok, so I got this laptop from my cousin used. He didn't have the optical disc drive however, so I cannot boot to install Windows. He gave me 3 hard drives, and I decided to run Dariks Boot and Nuke on them, and completely erase the contents of all the drives. Trouble now is installing Windows 2000 back onto the laptop. I have both a Cruzer Micro (and a Titanium) USB key and a external Buslink 52x32x52 cdrw burner that works via USB.
Is there any software I can use to boot to USB? Is there a setting the BIOS for USB boot? I have the latest Bios revision, by the way.
Most of the newer motherboards have an option to boot from usb, I have 2 1 laptop a Dell XPS 2010 will boot automaticly to USB if it is plugged in and has the option in the bios for boot seqence, and a desktop a dell XPS 720 it will alsi do the same, see if you can find a live copy of XP or the OS of your choise and you can boot from DVDR I have a copy of XP Lite Portable that boots from USB and runs fine

The experience forgot admin windows password happened to me few days ago. And I searched in the Internet to find the solution. Then I found a windows password reset tool called Windows Password Reset have a good evaluation.
I tried it as the steps: Step1:Download and install Windows Password Reset from http://www.windowspasswordreset.net Step2:Burn Windows Password Reset ISO file to CD/DVD,or USB. Step3:Put in my newly created CD and remove my Windows Password.
It really great help to me reset windows admin password.
It probably has an old PCMCIA card for wireless but they don't work well with modern routers.
I would recommend getting one like the one in the link below. It's super small, very fast, extremely cheap $10, Installs right in a usb port, and if your operating system is windows XP or later it should even auto install the drivers for you. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833315091
When you want to boot to the USB hard drive just have the drive installed, reboot the system, select the appropriate function key to go to boot options (should tell you what to press in the beginning of boot up) and select USB hard disk.
An important thing to note: Most Linux distributions won't boot from a USB hard drive or thumb drive without a special program for unpacking it to the USB Hard disk. Check with the distribution website for special instructions.
It is possible the battery where the contacts from the laptop fit into or the gold colored contacts themselves need to be repaired. Worst case, the spill short circuited the contacts on the board, in which case you will have to replace the board. I would suggest really cleaning the gold contacts on the laptop and the small slots on the battery itself with a Q-tip with a little bit of rubbing alcohol on it. Please make sure both areas are totally dry before reassembling the battery.
Well, when the power supply is plugged to the computer, there should be a light indicating that the battery is charging. One other thing, does it turn off completely (I should have asked this first) or is it just blocking? No messages on screen?
As the computer boots, it detects the additional memory and automatically updates the system configuration information
where did you get the memory?
If it is in properly and does't work,it is either bad or the wrong part number for your Dell C610
Yeah, it doesn't seem like there is support in my BIOS
