How do I test the ignition coil on a toro command lawn tractor model # ch20qs ?

Mount the coil with the proper air gap ( place a good thick business card between the coil and flywheel magnet. Tighten coil mounts and remove card.) remove the ground wire from the coil and using a spark tester check for spark. You must use the starter on the engine, you can not turn the motor over fast enough to produce spark by hand. If you have spark with the spark tester the coil is good. If you plug the ground wire back in and no longer have spark you have a problem with a switch or wiring.

Air gap husqvarna 23 hp

Firstly clear your question. if you want how to set air gap then Be sure the coil air gap is set at .010" Anything significantly more and you will have weak spark, giving you the impression of a rich running condition.

875 Series Engine-cleaned flywheel and magnets and magneto. Put back together and now no spark to spark plug. What is the air gap between the magneto and flywheel.

You should put it at .020

Are you sure you had spark before you took it apart? If you are not sure, then the Ignition Coil may have went bad. How did it act before you decided to take it apart?

Engine does not start. Starter & solenoid work fine. Checked air filter, fuel filter, fuel level, level in choke position. Plug is kind of flooded. Increased plug gap slightly. There is no spark....

Most small engines use a flywheel with a magnet embedded in it and an ignition coil with a core that sits a few thousandths away from the flywheel. Ignition coils are common failures probably because they come from our wonderful Chinese friends. They have demolished all US manufacturers. If you replace the coil, use some gauge to measure the gap between coil core and the flywheel magnet surface before removing the old coil. Otherwise you may spend a little time using trial & error to get the engine running again.
If your engine is a Briggs and Stratton, you can find very complete maintenance downloadable information on their website. This will pertain to the engine only, not the mower.
Dunno about Tecumseh, haven't had much need for service info on those.

I have a Toro Super Recycler Mdl 20033 ser 230000001 and up. Lawn mower will not start, there is no spark. New spark plug and fuel line. Change the magneto? Is this simple?

You may not need to change the ignition module. The "air-gap" on it may just need to be adjusted. That is, the distance between the pickup legs of the ignition module and the magnets integrated into the flywheel. You would have to remove the exterior cover and any sheet metal cowling (directs air flow off the flywheel around the engines cylinder). Then, the coil and flywheel should be visible. I use a standard business card as a gauge. Slide it between the coil legs and the magnet area of the flywheel. You should feel just a slight little rub. If it won't slide or the gap is large, no spark will be produced. You will have to loosen the screws holding the coil in place, double up the card. let the magnets pull the legs in against the card with magnets behind and retighten. Then recheck for spark. Post back if needed.

Cleaned the Briggs & Stratton Riding Lawn Mower's head and valves. Put it back together and it refuses to start, get good starting try, no joy. Checked the spark, great! Checked the gas- great!...

did you usae a new head gasket and clean the old gasket off? does the plug get gas? you must have spark, fuel, compression and timing in order for it to run. also did you gap the coil to flywheel spacing?

terry, check for kill line on motor to see if grounded out,you can remove from ground clip.
also you say you checked points??????
check for flywheel to coil pickup clearance .
point type coil to flywheel the airgap should be 25- 1000ths with feeler guage. on electronic ignition coil to flywheel pickup the air gap should be set @ 10-1000ths with feeler guage. hope this solves your problem..........lemmee kno.....chris
