SOURCE: what is the 2 cycle oil to gas mixture for a 2 cycle lawnboy

20:1 gas to oil is a good place to start. Some mowers thin down to 80:1. If you can tell me the model of the mower I can be more specific, but starting at 20:1 will assure you have adequate protection for the engine. If it's exhausting lots of oil smoke after it has warmed up; you can cut back a little each time until you have minor oil smoke.

at 20:1 you need to add 6.4 ounces of oil to one gallon of gas.

Here's a nifty calculator for various ratios:

http://www.csgnetwork.com/oilfuelcalc.html

Enter 1 gallon of gas, then change the ratio number and then press calculate and the number of ounces per gallon will be displayed.

REMOVE THE SPARK PLUG, RECONNECT THE CABLE AND WHILE THE SPARK PLUG IS RESTING ON THE BLOC OPERATE THE STARTING PROCEDURE AND SEE IF THE PLUG IS SPARKING.

Husqvarna 6021p won't start

Make sure spark plug wire is connected and that plug is not blackened and fouled out. Also check your fuel filter (plugged?), the handbar safety lever & it pull cable and make sure it is opening the breather assembly down at the motor or closing the proper switch (unsure of the setup) Those are typically the most common problems. Good Luck

In case anyone else hits this question, I had this weed eater and all of the attachments. I had it in my garage for a good 7 years, and it had gas in it 7 years ago.. I've known for some time that it now had no gas in it & that it wouldn't be easy to start if it worked at all.. I put some normal gas in it and dripped a bit of oil into the gas because i didn't have a can properly mixed and didn't want to oil up my lawn mower gas.. I had a guy cutting my lawn for the past 7 years but he recently disappeared..

I primed the weed eater and attempted to start it for a good 20 minutes yesterday to no joy.. I put it away and figured i'd try it again and more in depth today when I had more time. I wanted to take the spark plug out and make sure it was clean, etc.

On attempting to remove the spark plug, I couldn't find a wrench or socket that would work to do so, so I just reconnected spark plug cable and figured I'd give the pull start method another try.. I pumped more gas into the primer and attempted to start it normally a few times.. It wouldn't even attempt to fire. Just for fun since I was going to have to throw this and tons of never-been-opened attachments away, i decided to try something goofy (in my opinion) and squeezed the trigger as far as it would go (which disengages the choke feature..) and gave it a few pulls on the cord.. It attempted to fire a few times, then it fired! It worked very well although it was a little bit thick on the smoke for a bit..

Maybe this answer will help someone else who hits the problem of leaving gas in a weed eater for years.. don't use the choke feature to start it.. start it at full throttle with the primer perhaps flooded a little bit..

Greetings all. Bought an 1983 Yamaha XJ650 Maxim late last year and love it. It ran great last fall and took it on a 2500 km road trip this June and it ran great. Two days after I got back it started...

Have you changed the oil and cleaned the air filter, after the fuel tap problem.
fuel in the oil can cause this symptom. the fuel ends up in the sump when the taps fail as yours did
also check choke is not stuck open, and battery is in good condition

drain all gas out of the tank and carb the new gas with 10% ethenal is ruining old gas engines after everything sits for a day install a plastic shut off valve in gas line. put high test gas with the seafoam then turn gas valve off after every use it will run good. then call your congressman and complain otherwise we will all be replacing any engine older than 4 years old

i bought a new dirtbike as a kid n same thing.it turned out ,it needed to be a synthedic oil in the mix.try seeing for spark to begin with by putting sparkplug in the wire n touching diode to the engine block while pulling the cord.thats a good starting point to diagnosing your problem.maybe try warming it up in the house then try starting it with no choke needed.the saws i ve used needed you to give it throttle after you pull,n no throttle with choke.
