SOURCE: Convert Maytag Dryer to LP from Natural Gas?

yes it is very much necessary. the natural gas pressure is much lower that LP. it is @3.5 in, water column. The monometer is a pressure reading instrument that will tell what pressure is present at the gas source, appliance gas manifold and gas valve. Read the conversion kit instructions well. And adjust pressure according to data plate specifications. A u-tube water monometer is the best and most accurate however a standard analog will surfice. Please use caution.

Want to convert from natural gas to lp propane

A conversion usually consist of new burner(s)/nozzle(s)/orrifice(s) and either a new regulator/gas valve..

Some gas cook stoves or ranges come with the ability to run on either fuel and the spare nozzle or orrifice will be attached somewhere on the stove.. usually under the range top.. the gas valve may have a small lever that you simply move to the preferred fuel setting.. NAT or LP.

The appliance must have a rating plate that states it can be converted.. and if so..typically a conversion kit will be available or may have been included in the appliance package.

LP Gas runs at a higher pressure.. making a broad statement here.. converting from Natural to LP is more dangerous if the proper steps are not followed then converting from LP to Natural.. which typically just results in a weak flame.. regardless. it's still dangerous.

Many modern appliances will have a warning label stating it can only be used with a certain type of fuel. Heed the warning.

If your appliance did not ship with the alternate fuel kit or has a warning label.. do not attempt to convert it.. it will be much safer and cheaper to buy the proper appliance.

Best of luck.. and be careful

Hi: I purchased a GE used dryer model #WSM2780DBWWW. It had been converted to LP. Now I want to convert back to natural gas. Can you tell me the parts I need to order to go back to natural gas. ...

You will need to replace the orface the one for the LP is smaller and won't let enough gas out. LP has a lot more presure. Best to take your model # to an appliance parts store and get the right one.

I have Natural gas and am moving where it will be hooked up to lP instead. What do I need to convert to LP from Natural Gas

you will need an L.P. conversion kit. the kit contains a small spring, a new brass orifice and a new brass cap that fits on the gas valve. some kits are minus the spring. you will most likely have to remove the burner to put the new orifice in. any appliance repair store will be able to order you the kit. have model and serial number handy. good luck with your move into the country.

This is the solution to convert from LP back to natural gas that I posted as a comment on this thread:
After much work and little help from Jenn-Air or Whirlpool, I found a satisfactory solution. As many of you may have found out, Whirlpool does not sell the natural gas orifices to the JDR8895AAS separately as they do the LP conversion orifices. Instead, they recommend that you buy all 5 orifice holders that include the individual orifices. This would run about $120-150 depending on where you shop. If you want to take this route, the Whirlpool parts you need are:
1x740079621x740078132x740079611x74007816
Fortunately, because natural gas is denser than LP, the LP orifices can be bored out for a conversion back to natural gas. After a lot of homework I was able to find someone with the natural gas orifices for this stove that let me take them out to measure them. For some crazy reason, Whirlpool does not have this information:
Find a machine shop or a good appliance repair shop that has a wire gauging bit set. The natural gas orifice hole sizes are as follows:
Left front burner (16K BTU): 48Left rear burner (9.2K BTU): 54Center burner (5K BTU): 58Right front burner (12.5K BTU): 52Right rear burnger (5K BTU): 58
It cost me $25 to have these resized after I found the correct hole size.
Finally, to complete the conversion back to natural gas, you must flip the plastic screw-shaped piece by unscrewing the hex nut on the regulator at the back of the stove.
Hope this helps, because it took me a while to figure it out.
