The light works off pressure and it's saying there is not enough pressure when it is in idle but when you bring the rpms up it forces the pump to work faster and causes your pressure to go up thus turning the light off. you probably have an oil pump going bad but a clogged oil filter can do this too. Recommend doing an oil and oil filter change then buy a can of seafoam motor treatment and put all of it into your oil. what it will do is break down any deposits that are built up. It's cheaper to try this than to jump straight to replacing an oil pump. The Seafoam is usually around $10 a can.
it will take you 4 quarts of oil with out changing the filter.. and 5 quarts when changing the filter.well really more like 4 1/2..and there is no point in changing it if you arent going to do the filter

unless there is something unusual about it... the filter unscrews and you install a new one. you should put a drop of oil on your finger and rub it around the filter gasket before you screw it back on the motor. often you will need an oil filter wrench, abit of a misnomer as it is basically a band that goes around the oil filter with a handle. the newer style is a large socket piece that fits over the end of the oil filter and you turn with a rachet.
