Question about Washing Machines
I have a Kenmore Washer, Model # 92578200. Awhile ago it stopped working on 2 out of the 3 wash cycles, but still worked fine on the Heavy Duty Cycle. Just now the washer started shaking because the load was not distributed evenly. I moved the close around and it finished the cycle still shaking a little. After taking the clothes out it seemed that the washer wasn't level anymore, so I tilted the washer up to adjust the legs. When I put a new load in, it filled with water, but now it won't agitate, spin or drain. The load is small. When I put it on any cycle it makes a humming sound from the cycle selector, but thats it. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

set the load size to small, fill with water.
now after it fills with water do you hear anything? motor noise?
If you hear motor noise, it probably has a broken motor coupler.
if it doesnt do anything I would look at the lid switch and activator, the lid has to close and the switch has to know it closed. did the tab on the lid break off?

SOURCE: won't agitate
Ours did this and it was because the bearings had busted. I called a local repair guy and he told me over the phone just by listening to the sound. Maybe you could do the same. I do know this, if it is your bearings, buy a new washer. It's not worth the repair...trust me.

this is the site to find out how to fix your washer.
you have a broken drive coupling.
it probably wont agitate or spin, but will fill and drain.
you need to remove 2 screws from the control panel, hinge it back and then remove the 2 brass colored clips that hold the cabinet to the base. once you do then pull the entire cabinet forwards to a 45 degree angle and pull it off the base.
then pull the 2 clips off pump and then 2 more on the motor. that will allow you to get to the drive coupling. you will find it to be broken.
replace it with part number 285753a for about 15-20 bucks.

You will need a set of agitator dogs. Pull off your agitator cap and look under it, you will see 4(four)small tabs that catch and release the top 1/2 of the agitator.
