Question about Brother DCP-120C All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

I have a brother DCP -120laser ink jet printer. I bought all new ink cartridges a month ago , do not do much printing mostly black to write letters. However now the printer refuses to print , keeps telling me I need to replace the cartridges. When I took it out and replaced it to see if it was incorrectly placed it was still half full. What is wrong it?

Hello!

There may be some issues with the sensor of your printer. To check if this is the issue: Turn off the printer and take the cartridge out. On the end with the ink openings, there is a small opening and a little plastic window in the middle. Cover the plastic window with a small piece electrical tape (the black one). You have to work the edges of the tape into the slot. Once done put the cartridge back and see if it will print.

Thank you

This is common problem with Brother Printers. I am going to assume you are using Non-Brother branded ink cartridges. Brother cartridges have a cleanser in the ink that most generic cartridges don't have. This in turn causes the jets to clog and not allow ink to pass through them. The fix is to go buy a couple of Brother cartridges and do a cleaning with those cartridges. You may spend some money doing this as a cleaning wastes a lot of ink, but it will clean the injection lines and fix the printer. You could also consider buying a new printer. I know this is not the answer you were looking for, but it is the true answer. I just bought a new printer due to this fact.

The black ink doesn't print. We have brother cartridges in our printer DCP 385C, and until recently it always told us when ink was running out. now it doesn't print the black ink at all and it doesn't tell...

Make sure the protective tape covering the new cartridge has been COMPLETELY removed then reinsert. Your printer should tell you that a new cartridge is inserted and ask to print a test page, align etc. Otherwise your cartridge may have a faulty chip which simply wont read.
In which case you need to return it and get a replacement.

Brpther DCP 330c does not recognise new black ink cartridge

Usually there is more than one cartridge empty when you receive this kind of problem. Try opening the top cover and check if the display changes - it should change to specify one (or more) of the color cartridges as empty. That one(s) should be changed too.

Printer wont print black.already replaced with new ink but still wont print black

did you take the tape off the new cartridge and is the print head burned out for the black? if you installed the diagnostic's on it then run it and see what it says, otherwise expect the print head to be cooked, however it is possible to get a bad ink cartridge try tapping it on your finger and see if ink comes out if it does not then the ink cartridge is dried out or no good, about %15 of print cartridges are bad on just about any brand printer some more than others.

Even if you are not using it for printing, the ink inside the cartidge will be dry, some solutions composed in the ink can be easily be dry if it is exposed in excessive heat or cold..
