Sub Zero 550 Refrigerator Compressor runs continously?

Had the unit serviced. Freon levels are good and pressure is good. Refrig box setting is at a 1 and compressor continues to run. No ice anywhere. What part needs to be replaced.

Refrigertor is working. Ran for 24hrs, then I had tech out. He added freon to the freezer. Refrig was set to 5 and Freezer set to 4. After he added freon, he set both to 2 and the compressors turned off. Now the freezer compresser seems to be cycling. I tested the defrost timer and when it clicks the freezer compresser does cycle off. The Refrig compresser doesn't turn off even when i lower the control to 1.

Sounds Like You Have A Clogged In The System. If the compressor is running. The system will have to be vacuumed and flushed and re charged. Is temperature of the compressor above 120?

You probably have some food on the way. Unload the freezer and see if the door would close better. Looks like you have a warm air leak.

SOURCE: Kitchenaide model ksrg22fkss03 does not

As you mentioned the compressor is running and even getting hot.And also rattling noise from the starter, this indicates problem with starter. But if the old starter is got burned out, then its due to faulty overload too.In this case both has to be ordered. So check the starter condition. If its got burned out or burn marks then overload too has to be ordered. Before ordering parts. If you require total parts disassembly diagram for your refrigerator then ,please click on this link.It will help you to disassemble your unit. http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/Kitchenaid-Parts/Refrigerator-Parts/Model-ksrg22fkss03/0593/0165000?pathTaken=

Frost on back of refrigerator, left side

Just frost or a puddle? If it's a puddle cause by melting frost with no where to go then you had my problem. A clogged drain. First defrost the drain, a hair dryer works well, blow or snake it out then install the factory drain heater fix. Plugs right in and works like a charm. I've had my sub zero 550 for more years than I can remember. I'd buy another one in a minute. Good luck!

My sub-zero refrigorator is icing up on the first

Hello
There could be some other reasons for the ice.
1 bad or cracked door seal, have a look at the door seals.
2 Defrost timer may need to be set longer.
3 T sat set to low or not working properly.

Unit may be low on freon also, causing a lower pressure which would cause a lower tempreture, this occurs with a small leak or a pin hole leak.Once enough freon leaks out it will warm up and no longer work.

You can have a leak check done by a service person.

My Service light is blinking and there is an EC 50 code flashing. Can someone tell me how to fix the problem. I have tried turning the unit off and restarting it but the error eventually comes back.

EC50 indicates that your refrigerator is running too much. Resetting it won't help. The problem will come back within 24 hours, as the control board monitors the run time of the unit. Most likely you have a bad condenser fan motor or a freon leak. Call for service asap!

Sub-zero 511 Refrigerator again!

The problem could be one of many. Make sure the condencer is clean and that the condencer fan is working. Make sure the light is going off when the door is closed by pushting the door light switch in. Next the compressor would need checking and then the most likely is that your low on freon which most likely means a new refrig evaporater .

Model 550

If its as warm as you say and the refrigerant is R134A his estimate of the pressure (4# is low for 38'F) is correct.

As for the leak I can only assume he sees something to make him believe its the evaporator.

As to the warranty (if its under 1 year it should all be covered. If its 2-5th year just the compressor is covered on some manufacturers others its the sealed system meaning leaks also).

And as far as $400.00? That's not out of line from my experience (limited by 30 years of doing this) I believe from what you have said about this fellow he knows his stuff and what it costs him to do business and that he will be around to perform your next service you need also. A rare thing to see these days. Even with hard times everywhere a business still has to make a profit and cover over head. Unless your AIG, GM, or Chrysler.

Refrigerator not cooling properly

You may have a low freon condition in the fridge section. Look to see if you have an ice block building up on the rear wall towards the lower left side. If so, you are low on freon and the ost likely culprit is a leaking evaporater. The best way to tell if you are low on freon for sure is to take out all the shelves, remove the light cover, then the 2 screws holding the fan cover, and then remove the back wall. You wont be able to pull it all the way out cause the cold control is attached to it for the freezer and fridge so be careful. Turn the fridge control all the way up to 10 and wait till the compressor is running. you can tell if the compressor is running by pushing in the little switch on the top of the door frame and seeing if the fan runs(one switch is for lights, the other for fan) if it runs the compressor is on. anyway watch the coils and see if they develop frost all the way from top to bottom. If they dont you are low on freon and are ooking at about a $600 repair. if it does frost all the way you may have a bad cold control or a stalling fan motor up by the condensor on top. The best way to tell this is the next time the fridge feels warm, sheck the frame around the door seal and see if it is hot to the touch. If it is you almost surley have a bad condensor fan motor. Hope you can wade through all tis to find the answers. Good Luck!
