Re: how to delete recent log

I am having the same problem. I just contacted my wireless provider and they were stomped!! They tried calling Samsung directly but they are closed on Sunday's. I will be calling tomorrow but I have a strong suspicion that because there is no prompt to delete the log that a "Master Rest" will have to occur. Be advised that if this is done, that log may be deleted but so sill EVERYTHING else that is not factory set. All data will be lost if that is done. So hopefully that won't have to occur.

Re: how to delete recent log

I am having the same issue but I believe I have found the solution.
1. Browse the phones file system
2. Go to the Temp directory and locate the RecentLog text file.
3. There should be an option to delete this file when you press the Menu button on the phone.

I tried it. When I went to forward a picture my Recent Log was gone!

This means that you have too much memory in your phone, so it automatically makes its own memory. To fix this you need to delete some of your pictures and ringtones to add memory. I used to have this problem too! Hope this helps!

Blackberry Pearl: memory issues?

I do apologize you are having this issue with the Blackberry pearl 8100. Lovely device.
The manufactur, RIM is aware of the memory issue. It's a known malfunction of the device. Luckily, there's a way to fix it, and keep your pictures, logs, address book, etc.. from deleting.
First, you should have a 1GB card for your photos.
Second your phone stores what it does. So, when ever you exit an application press the back button. NOT the hang up button. It'll only leave that application running in the back ground.
Third, you can clear history by holding on ALT+LG+LG. You'll get an event log. Press MENU key, and select "Clear history".
Next, clear the cashe. Open up Internet browser, press the menu key and select clear cashe. Once you have done that, press the back button to the begining. Save all pictures on the memory card. If you don't have memory card, connect your Blackberry to your PC and use the desk top manager to sync your media over via USB cord.
Now, that you are connected via USB cord and have the desk top manager up, run application loader. This should take a total of 20 minutes. Do not REMOVE from the cord. You'll ruin the OS on the Pearl.
Once all is cleared out, and updated. Do a check on your camera, your call log, and sms's. Periodically, delete your text messages. I would say, once or twice a month run the application loader. You can always check out for the latest and great software for you Blackberry. Or, go to for tips & tricks!
RIM always updates their software every 2-4 months. That way you'll keep your Blackberry longer and stronger! Enjoy!

Blackberry Pearl automatically deleting messages

I actually had this problem a LOT in the past, it got so bad that I would get a message and it would INSTANTLY delete. Before I could even see who it was from, it would be gone. Then I looked for hours trying to find a solution, and found one. I haven't had the problem since, unless I have nearly a month's worth of texts in my phone. The problem is that your device memory is too full. If you have an SD card in your phone, I highly recommend moving any photos on your device memory over to the card. If not, then I HIGHLY recommend getting one, they are wonderful. If you do not have an SD card, and your budget is too small to get one, then delete any pictures on your device memory you dont need, or copy them over to your PC so you dont lose them, and try and keep your memory as empty as possible. Also if it happens a lot and bugs you, then every couple of days go in and empty out your message inbox also.
If this doesnt help then I dont know.

Picture Messaging

If your sympton is:

You see a red X with unknown error on your BlackBerry smartphone when sending picture attachments in an email message.
The service books for the email integration are corrupt
To resolve this issue, delete and resend the service books from the BlackBerry® Internet Service or BlackBerry® Enterprise Server.

Picture messaging allows the user to send and receive photos to and from their contacts.
Important: The Instant Messenger recipient must be online to send the picture.
To send pictures from your BlackBerry smartphone camera using <Instant Messenger>, complete the following steps:
  1. On the BlackBerry smartphone, preview a picture.
  2. Display the menu and select the Instant Messenger you want to use to send the picture.
  3. Complete the onscreen instructions.
To send a picture from within an Instant Messenger for BlackBerry smartphones application session, complete the following steps:
  1. Within the Instant Messenger session, display the menu and select Send Media. The Which Type dialog appears.
  2. Click Picture. The Pictures folder opens.
  3. Select the picture you want to send. A request is sent to the recipient indicating you sent a file and an option to Accept or Decline the file.
    • If the recipient clicks Accept, the Save File dialog opens. The recipient saves the file on the BlackBerry smartphone.
    • If the recipient clicks Decline, The sender receives a message indication the file transfer was declined.

The BlackBerry smartphone user is unable to send a picture as an email message from the Media application of the BlackBerry smartphone. The Send option is not present on the menu when the email message is sent using an email account that is associated with the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.

Although the current BlackBerry Internet Service supports large attachments or attachments that are in their native format, BlackBerry Enterprise Server software version 4.0 does not.
A BlackBerry smartphone that is provisioned with the current BlackBerry Internet Service uses it as the default method for sending pictures from the camera. As a result, when attempting to send a picture attachment from an email account that is associated with the BlackBerry Enterprise Server, the Send option will be missing from the menu as the image is in native format and size.

Upgrade the BlackBerry Enterprise Server to software version 4.1 Service Pack 2 or later, since support for large attachments or attachments that are in their native format has been introduced in that version.

Follow the steps below to send the picture attachment from the Messages application on the BlackBerry smartphone:
  1. Select Messages on the Home screen of the BlackBerry smartphone.
  2. Press the Menu key.
  3. Select the Compose Email option from the menu.
  4. In the To field, enter the contact address where the email message is to be sent.
  5. Press the Menu key again.
  6. Select the Attach File option from the menu.
  7. Browse to and select the picture to be attached to the email message.
  8. Send the email message.

Text, mms and call log

it is a known issue with means you have low memory....check your file free for memory by goign to options, will be the file free (listed in bytes). if there is anything lower then 4,000,000 bytes (3 MB) then you have low memory. i sugest purchasing a memory card and transfering your data over there....if you do, figure out where that info is going by pressing the menu button (while still in status) and selecting the option database sizes...

if content store has the largest byte size, delete info like pictures, email, sms, mms (if you have any left) a possibly games and themes (to delete games and themes, you have to run the application loader wich is the program that is installed on the cd that came with your phone). if you need assitance with this, contact your service provider. like i said, its a known issue.....they will know how to fix it.
