iPod home buttons fail all the time. If the button feels stuck in the down position, you no longer feel that distinct "pop" then it is a design issue and should be taken to the apple store for warranty work. If the iPod is out of warranty, then there are several shops that service home buttons. If the home button still "pops" as it should, then the issue is with moisture exposure. Sweat and wet hands while using the home button allow the moisture to seep into the home button area, eventually causing a corrosion buildup that slowly deteriorates the home buttons ability to do its simple job, after repeated exposure, it just has too much corrosion and stops working. Sometimes they will come back up after the window motor cools down.....if your lucky. If you can grab part of the window and pull up while pressing the up button you may get it to start coming up. If not, your stuck until you have someone remove the door panel and replace the window motor.
You have a virus most likely. You will need to boot with an antivirus cd & let it scan & repair the virus damage. After this is done you should have control of your system again. Hope this helps.
