Question about Sony Handycam HDR-CX160 Camcorder
My cam only records 17 min of footage at a time how do i fix this, it does not stop recording after 17 min it just cuts the rec and starts back but the few milliseconds between tracks are very tedious to edit at times, iv reset the cam b4 and it went up eo 32 min intervals but now its back to 17 min how do i fix this?
This sounds like it's one of two things: 1 - it's an over heating issue. This is to ensure than nothing gets damaged on the mother board or inside components - this most often found in Canon products. This is a very good feature. 2 - since you said it doesn't stop recording, it's merely make a cut point, it's more than likely cutting the footage to fit the FAT32 hard drive rules of not exceeding 4.4 GB of date for a single file. This is to help with post production work flow so you can edit easier and your system won't be as bogged down. All around this is a good feature. Helps in post production greatly.

I had that problem also and I found that using smaller tapes helped. I was using the 120 minute tapes, I think they may be too heavy.
