Question about Simplex 4009-9001 Nac Power Extender Panel

2 Answers

What, besides battery failure , causes 4009-9201 panel battery trouble alert on 4010.

We get battery trouble alert on 4010 main panel, but 4009-9201 shows no trouble via LED's. Trouble is only cleared by disconnecting battery and AC power and 4010 will reset. the battery circuit is reading 24.9 volts with the batteries connected or between the red or black lead and the batteries. It reads nothing between the battery charger leads without the batteries in the circuit. Do you know where the trouble might be or how to verify the problem is in the 4009-9201 panel?

My problem turned out to be with the board and the output of the charger was too low. It needs to be about 27.5 volts. The transformer was okay but the circuit that controlled the output was bad and even with adjusting the potentiometer we could not get the charger to put out the correct voltage. The fix was a new board from Simplex. We got a deal as the tech that came out had the board on his van . Labor and parts were $1,100.00. We get a lot of spikes where we are in Arizona and suspect that a bit of a jolt from a spike or nearby lightning strike wounded the board. A surge protector can help but a hard hit will toast this board. The trouble sensor looks for a full output charge or it will show a trouble
Hope that helps

I just read your comment. You were right about the output voltage and the output on the printed circuit board failing. We were blessed and were able to purchase a new complete panel through Amazon at less than $250 and had an independent local fire alarm company install it for us to comply with local fire alarm code. The installation charge was $$ 85/ hour or $170 or less for a 2 hour minimum. I plan to install Delta brand surge protectors online for each of our church buildings. My wholesale electrical supplier highly recommends them because they put some in their office and warehouse and their computer and fluorescent light and ballast failures were cut to almost nothing.

We were able to verify it was the charging circuit after consulting with Simplex and other alarm servicemen. The circuit board checks itself every 24 hours for adequate battery voltage and goes into trouble mode until it is reset. It goes into trouble mode again in 24 hours unless the batteries have been replaced or charged by another means.

Another possible problem is that the battery amp hours are too low. To test this you will need a battery tester, a meter will not simulate load tests, etc..

How do I replace the battery in a first alert FA120C system? The system beeps every 40 seconds.

Hi Nzingha. Check your mail panel, it should show which zone has got a battery problem, if no zone is shown, it is the main backup battery that is low, this should charge all the time while mains is available so it will only happen if the standby battery has a problem.

When you have determined which sensor has a low battery, use a flat screw driver, look for the small slit/indent and lift the front side from the rear to open. You should be able to see the batteries then, replace with the same making sure about the polarity when reinserting the new ones. Some sensors also have a pushbutton that you have to press when all batteries are out to reset the sensor. Hope this helps, see attached manual. http://www.securtek.com/products-services/system-user-guides/ademco/ADEMCO%20FA120C%20User&%2339;s%20Manual.pdf

My dynes 40" Dx-L40-10A doesn't turn on. I hear a click but the light will stay red and nothing appears on tv. Occasionally, if i unplug the tv for a few hours i can get it to turn on.

just let me know first if you will be the one to the repair since it needs a proper trouble shooting. a voltage checking and a component parts checking. the cause of the this kind of trouble is either a power supply board failure or a bad component in the main board. so isolate the main cause you will need to have trouble shooting and right device and tools.

Check engine light indicates p700 code

Diagnostic Test Code (DTC) P0700 is an informational code that is stored in the Engine Control Module (ECM) That informs the diagnostic technician that there are codes present in the Transmission Control Module (TCM) and that the TCM has requested the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) (AKA - Check Engine Light) to be turned on. This is because the MIL is controlled by the ECM and cannot be turned on directly by the TCM. So, the TCM requests the ECM to turn the light on. To find out the nature of the failure that caused the P0700, one must scan the TCM to retrieve the fault codes stored there. Please note that MOST generic OBD code readers cannot access the TCM - this is the reason for the P0700 code to set in the ECM (to alert somebody with a generic code reader that further diagnosis is needed for the TCM).

Acer travelmate 4010. LCD screen has a row of bad segments running top to bottom. Besides replacing the screen, is there anything else I can do? Unplug and reboot etc...

When it comes to fixing PC'S ...what you want to do is change parts that don't work properly...and if you're do it yourself-er then you must know that changing the parts and doing yourself is where you save money...I'm sure that the most you would have to pay for a new screen is probably $100 bucks......

Hi. I have a silent knight 5208 and company came out today to start monitoring my business and they stated that a trouble light is on and that its a problem with the switchboard so the panel needs to be...

The 5208 is a stand alone or slave communicator. The trouble light indicates several functions.
1, Trouble in main panel ie: open circut, low or no battery, ground fault.....ect
2. AC trouble
If you go to www.silentknight.com and search 5208 you can download a cut sheet for free. Is this a security system or fire alarm system? Does not really matter though, serves the same purpose.

The hot tub is no longer heating

There are two main items to check. I do not recommend them unless you are qualified to work with electrical. The 2 main things that this could be are:
1. Pressure switch failure( (hot tubs need a sensor to tell the computer when it is safe to operate. If the pressure switch is out, then it will not heat) if this is a hot tub with a 24 hour circulation pump, then the pressure switch would actually be a flow switch.
Fix: Replace pressure switch/ flow switch
2. Heater element failure. (This type of failure typically trips a GFCI breaker)
if the heater element is out, then it will short to ground causing the hot tub to shut down repeatedly.

Notes: Are there any trouble codes coming up on the display panel? these help out greatly when troubleshooting like this via- messages
