The back light of display flicks one time for millisecond, after that no display, but photo can be taken.

If you have your LCD turned on and it only 'flicks one time for millisecond, after that no display'...your LCD is dying and not worth the repair.

Here's how to find out. Flick the switch one way, and with the camera sitting in one spot, take a photo, now flick the switch the other way without moving the camera, and take another photo. The darker one is for bright light, the lighter photo however, is for low light. I hope that helps

On the viewfinder, parts of the picture flashes black.


It sounds like you have the display set to show image "highlights", this is a mode that shows parts of the picture that has become over exposed and have no detail contained within that area, in other words the parts of the photo that are pure white.
The camera Highlights as one of several different modes that can be flicked through after looking at a photo you have taken. hope this helps  Ian

Problem with display being white...but!


This sounds like it might be a defective CCD imager. If so, Canon should fix this for you for free, including free shipping both ways. This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. Please check the following two links for more info:

try using a CF card reader ... when you hook the CF card reader to the PC .. it will open up the cf card as a drive.. you can download the pics by copy and paste...

reformat the card after that
