My Whirlpool washer won't spin and drain

First test if it is a problem with the lid switch. There are many YouTube videos on how to take apart the control panel and test the pins with a multimeter. On my washer, the lid switch passed the multimeter test but I did my test below and determined it was still the lid switch that was the problem.
When it gets to the point where the washer is supposed to drain and then spin-rinse but doesn't do anything, open the lid and push down on the lid switch lever with a small solid stick (chopstick, screwdriver, etc..) where the lid switch pin would normally push down on until you hear a click. If it suddenly drains, then the lid switch needs to be replaced. If you're lucky, it's a $6 part on ebay and 15 minutes of your time. If nothing happens, then find the YouTube video on testing the lid switch with a multimeter.

I need a washing machine manual for a Kenmore top loader, model number 22422100

Please check your model number. Kenmore washers have a 3 digit prefix followed by another 8 digits. If your full model number is 110.22422100, then Manage My Life has the manual here: http://www.managemylife.com/mmh/owner_manuals/12008/KENMORE-Residential-Washers-L0407343?brand_name_search=110.22422100 . This is a generic manual for all Kenmore one-speed automatic washers. A copy of the descriptions of the washer settings is available here: http://www.managemylife.com/mmh/owner_manuals/15224/KENMORE-Residential-Washers-L0305156?brand_name_search=110.22422100 .

I hope this helps. If your washer has a different prefix, please add a comment with the prefix. I'll try to find manual for the correct model.

The contact button (part where you put the door down to make the washer start to agitate) something came apart....washer is filled with water and now won't go. The part came out.

you broke the lid switch, send the full model number located under the lid, lift the lid up,follow the lid to the bottom and look right under it and you'll see the model number,it will start with like 110.

How to relpace lid switch on whirlpool washer model number lsr5101lq0

Good day,
Here is a tutorial on replacing the lid switch. Their position and installation will vary on certain models but it will be easily understood once the cabinet is apart.

Lid Switch

HI, The part# is 3949238. There are two ways to replace this switch. The easiest is to remove the two screws holding the lid switch. Pull the switch out enough that you can clip the wires at the switch. Cut the harness off of the new switch leaving enough wire to put wire nuts on connecting them together.
The other way to change the switch is to remove the cabinet. Here is how:
Removing the cabinet. UNPLUG the washer. There are two screws holding the control panel to the cabinet. Most models the screw are in front but, some models have the screws in back. They are on each end. Now raise the control panel up and let it rest on the hinges. Unplug the lid switch harness and locate the clips on each side (bronze in color) and release them.
Now the cabinet will lift off the frame and you can see the lid switch.
I hope this helps you. Please let me know if I can assist you further.

Can't figure out how to get the washer apart to put in the lid switch.

If this is a Whirlpool made machine (which includes Sears Kenmore), there's a video here showing how to get the cabinet off for different models.

You can replace the switch, it appears, without lifting the lid. I've ordered the repair manual (LIT4314044) but I can feel the connector and wires. It appears that the lid switch can be replaced without taking anything apart. There does appear to be a screw on the back that holds the ground in place.
