HP 5510 acts like printing but no ink

I have 2 brand new cartridges - I've tried all the troubleshooting tips, I've tried printing test pages but as per problem it acts like it's printing but no ink. I've manually cleaned the ink cartridge heads and confirmed that ink is running - all to no end.

See if you have tried cleaning the cartridges and you still face this issue try with diffrent cartridges and if again you still face this issue then its your printer that needs replacement, since i work for HP.

Tell ya what call in to hp at 1800-474-6836 and ask for an upgrade where you will get 50% atleast off on the upgraded printer and you will get a high end and also then you can extend your warranty for 3 years so if you face any hardware or software issues then your printer cost will be covered by hp and you will get a replacement printer free of cost if its a hardware issue and software assistance free of cost,Think about it and then call us up

the body of text of the test page is black ink. From what you describe, the print heads are clogged. Most HPs use cartridges that have the head built in, but if not used for an externded period they can dry up and clog.
Try repeated head cleanings (10 or more) see if any change. If none, try new HP ink cartridges

You must be using HP60.
Have you refill your cartridge at all?

If you did, gentely wipe out the cartridge circuit part with Q-tip (with bit of alcohol).
And wipe out the circuit part in the printer where cartridge goes in as well.

And try back.
Sometimes by having some dust or bit of ink make cartridge unreadable.

If you used brand new, do same thing to cartridge circuit part.
Otherwise, there got to be some circuit shot happen in printer.

For your reference, HP4580 is pretty new model and has not cause major problem.
Good practical and durability is good.

If you would like to save money, try refill kit by "ROADINK".

Not only they are easy, but also the printing quality is good.
For your better understanding pls check out my youtube video.
And will see how easy ink refill can be done.

How do I change the ink in hp officejet 5510

Replacing the print cartridges
  1. Turn on the HP Officejet, and lift open the print-carriage access door. The print carriage will move into the access area. Figure 1: Opening the print-carriage access doorc00034766.jpg
  2. After the carriage stops moving, push down on the top of the print cartridge to release it, and then pull it toward you out of the slot. Figure 2: Removing the print cartridgec00034767.jpg NOTE: It is normal to see ink buildup in the print cartridge slots.
  3. Remove the new print cartridge from the packaging and gently remove the plastic tape by using the pink pull tab. CAUTION: Do not touch the copper contacts or ink nozzles. Install the cartridge immediately upon removing the tape to prevent ink from drying in the nozzles. Figure 3: Removing the plastic tapec00034768.jpg
  4. Push the new print cartridge into the appropriate slot at a slight angle, until it clicks into place. CAUTION: Do not attempt to push the cartridge straight into the slot. It must slide in at a slight angle. Figure 4: Inserting the print cartridgec00034769.jpg
  5. Close the print-carriage access door.
Back to top Aligning the print cartridges The HP Officejet will prompt you to align the print cartridges every time you install a new print cartridge to assure high-quality output.

It sounds like the jets on your cartridge is plugged. I have unplugged some cartridges by soaking the jets in alcohol. I pour some alcohol in a shallow dish and set the cartridge in it with printing jets down. Leave it for 5-10 minutes. If the jets start to unclog you will see the ink discolor the alcohol.

Be careful when wiping off the ink jets so you don't damage them. Use a soft cloth. Try the cartridge and see if it prints. If you need to soak it longer.

Troubleshooting a HP Officejet 5610 All-In-One InkJet Printer. Installed new ink cartridge but it's still acting like its out of ink ie, spotty printing. Suggestions?

50% or stronger isopropyl works well as a solvent, 91% dries very quickly. Try cleaning both the contact-film surface of the ink cartridge and the print-head (carriage, actually) in the printer with a lint-free cloth or swab and solvent (swabs reach to the carriage contacts better) CAREFULLY. Clean the print head on the cartridge itself by pressing straight on, not rubbing back and forth, with a lint-free cloth and solvent. Use the HP print head cleaner program first, then check alignment with HP's program, then print a test page. Is this not exactly what the help file on maintenance tells you?

I had the same problem. I called hp and spent an hour running through the troubleshooting things that I'd already done. They ended up sending me a new ink cartridge, and surprisingly, it worked. For some reason, the printer refused to recognize a nearly full ink cartridge. Go figure. It seems to be working for now, but it's a huge waste of ink and money. If you have the patience for it, call hp and see if they will replace your cartridges.

My brother mfc-240c doesn't print black. I replace the black with a new cartridge as it still wouldn't print black. I also tried to clean all the colors numerous times, but to no avail. I don't know what...

Wow, something similar just happened to me the other day, my black ink ran out & when I replaced it, it just wouldn't print, I kept trying to print things and it sounded like it was printing but then it would just shoot out a blank page of paper (I was trying to print BLACK). So, I went to the Brother website for troubleshooting tips and it said to make sure I had the ink cartridges installed properly so I took the black cartridge back out (it WAS installed correctly, but I was willing to try anything at this point), so I took it out, gave it a blow, like how you would blow on the old Nintendo game catridges when they did not work-I'm not sure if this did anything at all but it's what I did) and then I put it back in). The machine asked if had just replaced black I said "Yes", then it did another "cleaning", as it does when you replace any cartridge. Then I went in the menu to have it print out a "test page" (the instructions for this were in the troubleshooting tips on the website), the test page printed out with NOT all the little black squares as IT SHOULD BE so when it asked me if the test page was ok, I said "NO", then it did ANOTHER CLEANING and I did another test page, this time it worked ok, then I was able to print.
So, bottom line is, maybe take the ink out, make sure you installed it correctly, put it back in, print a test page, if the test page does nto come out right, then tell it it is no good by selecting "NO", then it will do another cleaning and then maybe it will work, if not, then check for more troubleshooting tips on their website, good luck.

Acts like its printing but no ink on paper

Using HP Director, you should be able to check estimated ink levels by selecting Settings -> Print Settings -> Printer Toolbox and then clicking on the Estimated Ink Levels tab.

If the ink levels appear to be sufficient, on the printer control panel press Setup, 1, 4. This will generate a self-test report. If there is streaking of any of the 4 bars at the bottom of the page, the affected cartridge may need to be cleaned. If any of the bars are missing, the cartridge needs to be replaced.

To clean the cartridges, press Setup, 5, 1. This will print a page of patterns.
