How to clean the fan of my computer

Regular maintenance of your Compaq Presario laptop helps to keep the machine running properly.

Keeping the fans clean is especially important, because the fans blow out hot air and bring in fresh air to cool down the laptop.

Fans attract dust, however, which can slow them down, resulting in a hot laptop.

If the laptop overheats, vital parts can cease functioning altogether.

Consequently, keeping your laptop's fans clean is crucial.

or you might want to remove it to get it clean

HP Presario C500 is a laptop that, like most other laptops, requires a clean, functioning fan in order to work properly.

If your fan is too full of dust to function properly or needs to be replaced because it is no longer working, then your computer could be in danger of overheating and crashing.

Instead of having to purchase a new laptop because your C500's fan has failed, remove it and clean the fan or replace it with a new one.

Turn off your computer and unplug all the cords and cables from it, even the power cable.

Turn the laptop over and remove the battery, then remove all the screws at the bottom of the computer with a Phillips-head screwdriver.

Remove the two face plates from the bottom of the computer and you'll see the hard drive and RAM below.

The face plates will come out easily once the screws are removed.

Remove the two screws holding the hard drive in place and then lift the hard drive out.

Remove the screw found directly below the hard drive.

Turn the laptop over again and pop off the keyboard.

If all the screws at the bottom of the computer where removed, then the keyboard will come right out.

Remove all the screws underneath the keyboard and case and then lift the case enough to access the fan assembly in your HP Presario C500.

Unhook the cable coming from the fan into the motherboard and remove the screws holding the fan in place, then pop the fan out of the computer.

Hope this helps

How to remove dvd drive on aspire 5720

A) Remove the AC adapter (Charger) and Battery

B) Laptop closed turn it over, lay it down on a soft cloth on a table, Battery Bay Compartment AWAY from you.

C) The Thermal Cover is the largest cover on the bottom of the laptop. Goes from the right side to the middle, and very close to the Top and Bottom.

There are four Philips head screws to remove in the cover, before the cover can be removed.

1) Under the middle of the Battery Bay Compartment, and at the Top/Left corner of that rectangular vertical vent, in the Thermal Cover.

2) At the Bottom/Right corner of that vertical vent, in the Thermal Cover.

3) In-between the two horizontal vents, located at the Bottom of the Thermal Cover.

4) Straight above the screw removed in 3), is the last screw to remove. There is a round shaped vent, inside a square at the top right of the Thermal Cover. The screw to be removed is at this vent's Bottom/Left corner.

Once all the screws are removed, ease the Thermal Cover up from it's left side, (Middle of laptop), at an angle, then remove.

D) In the opening with the Thermal Cover removed, there is one Philips head screw to remove, then the ODD can be removed.

Take apart a hp gv7

Get some cups and label them for all the screws you take out. Have a digital camera to take photos. Start with the bottom of the laptop by removing all the screws and then the components that are there such as the Hard drive, DvD Drive, etc. Pay close attention to screw that hold the keyboard, they will have the icon of the keyboard next to it. They might be located inside the battery compartment or on the bottom of the motherboard. Some models may not have keyboard screws on the bottom.

After all the bottom screws are removed, turn the laptop over and remove the strip that is above the keyboard. Be careful because there might be a cable under it that has to be removed.

Then remove the keyboard, there might be screws holding it down and catches on the site that hold it down. There will definitely be a cable under the keyboard so remove it carefully.

Next you start removing the LCD Screen, then the palmrest. Once the palmrest is removed you will start removing the motherboard from the bottom case.

Good Luck

How to replace keyboard on sony vgn-nr498e, broken left hand shift key, i need to replace entire keyboard

If you have the new keyboard, look at the bottom and locate the screw sockets. On the laptop at the bottom, match and locate the approximate location of where each screws are mounted. Remove only those screw. On some laptops, you might need to remove the keyboard top frame - if they are mounted with screws, remove them as well. Some laptops have a small picture or symbol of a keyboard for each screw that needs to be removed on the bottom of the laptop.

Where is the cmos battery located in the computer??????????

#1
Turn off the laptop and remove the AC adapter. Remove the battery from its compartment on the bottom of the computer. Turn the laptop over and remove the screws holding the DVD drive in place and pull out the DVD drive.
#2
Remove the remaining screws on the bottom of the computer. These screws secure the wireless card cover, the memory card cover and the modem card cover. Then remove all of the plastic covers. Remove the wireless card by sliding it gently out.
#3
Remove the corner screws on the bottom of the laptop securing the bottom housing. Remove the housing by pulling it away from the laptop. Remove any remaining, exposed screws on the bottom of the computer.
#4
Turn the laptop over and remove the thin plastic strip that runs along the border of the keyboard with your fingernails. If your fingernails aren't long enough, a plastic card will work as well.
#5
Remove the two screws on either side of the keyboard securing it to the computer. Remove the keyboard.
#6
Remove all of the exposed screws where the keyboard used to sit. These screws secure the top housing to the computer. Remove the housing, exposing the motherboard.
#7
Locate the CMOS battery. It is a small battery about the size and shape of a coin and should be easily visible on the board. Depending on the model of Toshiba you are working on, the CMOS battery will either be secured with a clip or connected to the board by two small cables. Either way, they are easily removable.
#8
Disconnect the battery by pulling gently away from the cables or by popping the clip out. Your CMOS battery can now be removed

Removing bottom of laptop

It is a difficult task. After removing all the screws, look for the plastic locks on the sides of the top cover. On the one side you got the screws, and the other the plastic locks. Before removing the locks carefully detach the flat cables conecting the boards. Remember, do not break any connection and also make sure your laptop is off. The next thing you should do is to remove the battery. Now carefully slide the bottom cover off laptop.
