Question about Kenmore 24 in. 17602 / 17604 / 17609 Built-in Dishwasher

Open Question

Dishwasher will not operate but "lock on" light is lit up.

We tried to run our Kenmore dishwasher quietguard plus and the only light lit on the unit was the "lock on" light and it would flash when you tried to get unit to start a wash cycle

I just read this for the same problem: push sanitize, then heat and dry, sanitize, heat and dry, sanitize, heat and dry, cancel, then open and close the door. It worked. The dishwasher is running correctly even as I type this.

Have to hold the Air Dry button down til your finger hurts. Release button and the light will go off. The "4 second press" in the manual is incorrect!

SOURCE: Kenmore ultra wash dishwasher control lock light flashing

Hi jabberr216,

I'm Harvey the Master Plumber.

Your question is: You have an older model Kenmore ultra wash dishwasher model #15805890. The control lock light is flashing. No buttons are working. The dishwasher does not turn on. Any solutions?

Sure! Someone must have activated the lock. It is next to either the 'air dry' or 'heated dry' button.
Press and hold that button till the lock light goes out. About 6 seconds. That's it. It turns on the same way.

SOURCE: Kenmore Ultrawash QuietGuard 3 Dishwasher not draining or rinsing

Not draining may either need new drain motor. or something is blocking the drain pipe.

Spots on dishes means you are using to much detergent or the wrong kind of detergent.

Your owners manuel should tell you what type to use.

SOURCE: hello,

On our Kenmore Quietguard the lock light is at the Air Dry button. Holding the Air Dry button for about 8 seconds turns the lock light off if it is on and on if it is off.

How can I turn off heated dry on my kenmore ultra wash quietguard

We had the same problem and called a local service center for some advice since the dishwasher was no longer under warranty, Sears 1-800 number would not troubleshoot with us. The local technician suggested we open the panel behind the keypad (with the power disconnected) and unplug the main "ribbon" for 10 seconds. After plugging the ribbon back in and restoring power the keypad had reset itself and the lock button was no longer an issue :) I hope this helps someone else that may be in the same boat someday. (I apologize if the term ribbon is vague here but when you look at all of the wires running around the back of the panel it's easy to see, ours was various shades of grey and appox 2" wide)

Kenmore Quietguard 2 dishwasher not filling.

There is a solenoid that keeps the water in the washer. It is either faulty or there is something preventing it from closing completely. If there is no power applied to the washer, does it then hold water?

Hello, i have a Kenmore Quietguard standard dishwasher. it is in the "lock" position under dry options and the dishwasher will not start. can you tell me how i might be able to re-start this?

On our Kenmore Quietguard the lock light is at the Air Dry button. Holding the Air Dry button for about 8 seconds turns the lock light off if it is on and on if it is off.

Try turning off the power to the dishwasher at the circuit breaker box. leave the power off for 5 10 mins and then turn breaker back on and try to restart dishwasher. This may reset the board and it may work
