Question about Technics SA-DX930 Receiver

Open Question

SA-GX690 clicks - sound quits. Slap the side and it works again

My system also clicks (as it does when it comes on) and the sound quits.  There is no error message and I used to be able to slap the side a couple times and it would come back on.  Without slapping, it may click and come back on in 15 to 30 minutes.  Lately, slapping doesn't work and it stays off longer.  I took the cover off and the fuse is good but the fan is not spinning.  I don't know if I found the culprit, but I tapped on one of the OEG BLUE SQUARE MODULES and it came back on.  Any expert ideas?  Thanks.

SOURCE: receiver sa-590: audio 'cuts out' and now stay

Sounds like the relay are worn. Its small plastic box. You can gently open the cap with precision screwdriver and use fine sand paper, or your gf nails sanding tools and pass it on the contact. If you could unsolder it, its much more easier to open...

SOURCE: my Tchnics Sa-Da10 shuts down on what appears to

Ahh technics. Technics always had overheating problems, trust me. Every since they started, their amps would get so hot they would hurt to touch. The reason the fan is not coming on seams to be something inside the circuit board. I'm sure that technics could fix this. If the fan works out of the receiver, then it must not be the fan. ;P

I would maybe get a computer fan, and just put it on top of the receiver and turn it on, or send it in for fixing. Also, do you have to crank the volume to get the speakers to play at your volume, and does the impeadence match the receiver. Because you may be pushing the receiver too hard.

Sounds like you have a heat pump with either a stuck reversing valve or a loose wire going to the reversing valve solenoid. Open it up and take a look. Keep slapping it and you'll break something!

Truck makes clicking noise just after starting up!

The smoke if it's white and goes away is just condensation in the exhaust system evaporating and the clicking noise could be the famous GM Piston slap. You can take it to the GM Dealer, there is an upgrade ECM program to help eliminate the piston slap noise when the engine is cold. You can also try adding some Lucas engine treatment to your engine oil to help with the piston slap problem. Start with that and hope it's not overdue for an oil change or low oil level in the engine.

There is an internal "timer" circuit that controls the delay of the output relay. The capacitor in this circuit may be defective. Since it is part of an RC circuit, poor solder connections can effect this as well. Look closely at the board for any solder connections that appear grainy or have rings and resolder them. That may resolve the problem. If not, please update this with your findings and I will look up the service manual for this and list the probable defective components in the delay circuit.
