High pressure oil line blew off on 3126 cat

Now I need to remove the aluminum block it was attached to not exactly sure what the block is named / need to drill &tap / or heli coil/or do I need to replace the block $$$ Also to remove the block what else do I need to remove and mark to do so

Sounds like high pressure oil used to actuate the injectors is bypassing one or more injectors internally. There was an issue with this on engines with 7AS / 8YL serial number prefixes. There is no real way of isolating the problem, so the fix would be to replace all six injectors.

Change oil pump


What you really want to do is have a technician remove the oil sending unit and attach a pressure gauge of known reliability. Only then can you know if your pressure is good or bad.

If you have to change an oil pump, you can have problems reaching it. You may be able to find a Video or text online for your exact model. The Capri series covers a lot of Years and the engines may be different and one year may be a front wheel drive while an older one may be rear wheel drive.

One of the biggest problem is having clearance to remove the oil pan. Sometimes in the closest clearances turning the crankshaft can help make room to drop the oil pan.

Front wheel drive units can have a cradle which blocks pan removal. You need to find out the requirements for your exact year.

The pressure test will help diagnose other problems. Bad bearings can leak so much oil that pressure will behave exactly like you describe.

Cat 3126, Oil press. drops off from 50 psi. to 17 psi as it warms up


According to their website the minimum oil pressure is 41 psi at idle. I'd suggest verifying the oil pressure with a manual gauge directly plumbed to the engine. If it is 17 psi when the engine is up to temp. then you may have issues with the bearings. You should take an oil sample and find out what the metal levels are in your oil to determine if the bearings are going

The low pressure cycle switch is located under the air filter housing. It is attached to the accumulator drier. the drier is a canister with two aluminum lines and this sensor attached to it .

I hooked up my gauge run the unit and sees the high side pressure goes up, the compressor overheating and shuts off. I checked the water pressure regulator valve it good. so I unwelded the condensor coil...


It sounds like you may have unwelded the suction line to the compressor and blew the compressor out. That is not good. How a Taylor works is this: Compressor comes on and produces a lot of heat. There are 3 ways to dissipate the heat. If there is a big radiator like set of copper and aluminum finned coils near the compressor it is air cooled. If there is a water line going in and a drain line coming out, it is water cooled, the water runs the whole time the compressors are running, the third way is to have an outside remote condenser coil. I believe you have a water cooled machine. On the back of the machine is a copper fitting to hook up the incoming water lline. There is also a drain line and water will flow constantly from it if everything is running alright. It is ok for the compressor to get hot when running, it is supposed to get hot. If you broke into the freon lines by mistake, the freon is gone and it won't show pressure anymore. I don't see any way that oil would have gotten into the water cooling line. To verify which is the cooling water, the copper lines will go into the back of the machine and will be wrapped around the outside of the compressor and then back to the drain at the back of the machine. If you blew the oil out of the compressor it will very soon lock up and be destroyed. Look at the line that you cut into.

Had coolant Bypass line break on the road just got it home had 0 oil Pressure fixed the hoses the next day started it noticed the coolant being pushed out of radiator im guessing a Blown head gasket...


sorry for the delay. if it is like that than your head gasket is bad. that is the only two common points other than the head and cylinder wall! if you do the head gasket make sure to take it to the machine shop to be pressure checked and resurfaced just because it's aluminum.

Oil filter adapter lines from block adapter to remote oil filter


The lines can be disconnected from both ends and the bracket removed but to remove the lines from the front (they cannot be removed to the rear) loosen and remove the drivers side engine mount bolt. Use a block of wood between a floor jack and the cast aluminum oil pan and jack the engine assy. up slightly (just enough to "snake" the oil filter adapter lines by the drivers side engine mount. Leave engine jacked up slightly while you "snake" the new lines into position and install the end at the engine oil filter adapter. You can then lower the engine reinstall engine mount bolt and finish the install of the lines by installing the oil filter end of the adapter lines and attach the bracket (that comes with the GM lines) to the block.

The sensor can show high pressure when that is not the case, they fail high not low, take the sender out and plug in a mechanical guage to verify this, that is the only way to be 100% sure.
