SOURCE: won't stay running

The carbeurator needs to be cleaned and probably rebuilt. Start with a spray carb cleaner by putting 3 or 4 shots in the carb. Run it for a minute then let it sit for two hours and run it again.

SOURCE: tiller wont stay running..

Clean out the small fuel inlet ports behind the diaphragm. Sounds like they are clogged up. Use the end of a paperclip to gently make sure the passages are open. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Ok, what's happening, is your carburetor metering hole is plugged. When you place your thumb over the carb, it draws fuel through the primer circuit to feed the engine instead. What you need to do, is clamp off the fuel line, take the nut off the bottom of the carburetor bowl, and clean that nut. Look closely at it; there is a hole that goes down the center of it, and a hole that goes through it side to side towards the bottom. These make a "T" shape inside the nut. You need to make sure that these are completely clear and clean. The one at the bottom is very small, and plugs easily. You usually need a small piece of wire to clean it, such as a single strand from a wire brush. You can use carburetor cleaner to loosen it up a bit, but the important part is to clean that hole out. You also need to make sure that the float moves freely up and down while you're in there. If it sticks in the up position, it will starve fuel as well. Also look closely at the gas that came out when you did this. Was there any water in it? If so, let a bit drain out before putting it all back together.(unclamp the fuel line). Hope you have it back online soon.

Testimonial: "Nut was clogged. Now it starts but acts as it is in choke position, dont think there is a choke. Engine reves, falls, reves falls but stays going."

Just stopped running, changed fuel tank, spark gapped at .025 , air filter, added new fuel still won't throttle up and is hard to start. What's next?

If you have a fuel bowl on the bottom of carb remove the cup and clean well and clean the fuel jet as well. If its even partly plugged The engine will not run right.

I own a 2 cycle mini tiller craftsman and I need a manual for it. I want to tune up tiller it's blowing smoke.

Manuals for many Craftsman tools are available here: http://www.managemylife.com/mmh/owner_manuals . Lots of tillers are listed just by searching for Craftsman tiller. If you can find the model number (usually on a plaque on the housing of the tiller), you can narrow down the list greatly.

I hope this helps.

I have a Model 29270 REV B00 Craftsman 4 cycle mini-tiller. Can't find a spark plug or air filter. Appreciate some direction.

Craftsman part numbers will help on this search. Typically 3 digits separated by a '.' such as 345.45687

If you can find these, please re-post the question. :)

Will not stay running

Hi. You still have junk in your carb. Get a can of starter fluid and a helper. As you run the engine have your helper give it a squirt of starter fluid directed at the air intake until the engine runs smoothly. J.
