Remove throttle handle from shaft trying to keep all parts in one side and once removed place together and install a couple of screws, remove shaft from part no 42 by loosening screw no. 43, item 45 has either a allen head or star head screw in it will probably loosen ccw. Remove item 45, remove item 46 should be arrow to show which way to turn you will need to use copper or brass pin to hit with hammer to remove to prevent damage. Now remove item no. 41 and you are at the starter cord. You will now have to remove spool no 51 and notice how rope is wound if possible, remove old rope install new rope place spool back in place to where it catches spring as it should now wind in same direction as rope wound about 5 turns hold and run rope through eyelet of starter housing. Now install keeper 52 with screw 53.

remove the recoil. should be three 10mm bolts (maybe four) you may find that as you loosen them the rope might recoil so be careful. if not your spring is broken and needs replacing

Hi, on the side of the black spindle should be two tabs, push these in & the spindle cover should come off in your hands, Inside you will find a dual reel, one length of line needs to be fed in one way & the other the other way, making sure you have enough strimmer line free from either the slots or the hole on the side of the reel put this reel back on the spindle & pop on your black spindle cover, Job done.

You can try retying it but in the end you will be replacing the rope. Joe

1st get same size cord 24" long .remove pull start assy. remove old rope.burn & smash ends flat of new rope(helps it go thru holes on pulley & cover easy). tie small knot in 1 end of rope. unwind spring pressure like if rope is pulled all the way out when starting.align holes in pulley & cover .fish rope thru holes start on pulley side, out thru cover so knotted end on pulley side.when ropes thru slip handle on .rewind spring will wind itself pulling rope in . your done

close your carb adjustment screw a bunch of turns... yours may even be missing.

Replacing the rope is not difficult but tricky. Remove the starter cover and place it on your workbench with the plastic rewind spool visible and remove the old rope noting how it was tied. The rope is sold in various sizes from # 3 to # 6.5. Most mowers use a #4.5 length of about 6 to 7 feet. You may not need this much but more is better. Now practice inserting the rope thru the hole where it comes out into the hole where it ties. Once you can do this you are ready to wind. The spool winds when you pull the rope, that why it recoils when you let go of the rope. With that in mind, turn (wind) the spool in the same direction that it turns when you pull the rope. It should be getting tighter as you turn. Keep winding in the direction that it turns when you pull the rope untill it will not go anymore. It should be very tight. Now unwind one complete turn and align the hole of the spool to the hole in the housing and hold it there while you insert the rope from outside hole into the spool and tie knot. After the knot is tied slowly let rope rewind into the spool untill it stops on its own. You are done. You should have plenty of extra rope left to extend out to the handlebar. Enjoy

rotate the starter pulley by hand. You should feel the spring getting tight. Once the pulley is slightly tensioned, usually 5-10 turns, release the pulley and let is pull the string onto the pulley. You may have to add some tension to get all the rope to wind on the pulley.
