Why is it that my PC (desktop) encountered suddenly shutdown? WINDOWS HAS RECOVERED UNEXPECTED SHUTDOWN Problem signature: Problem Event Name: BlueScreen OS Version: 6.1.7601. L

You say Windows, but not which version. Regardless, the "blue screen of d??th" is a mighty frustrating issue. There are ways that can help isolate the cause, but they are complex and require additional software. The two things that most often cause crashes are intermittent hardware faults and defective or incompatible drivers. Check to see if you have recently updated and of the component drivers. If so, use the "rollback" feature to go back to the previous driver and see if that helps. Unfortunately, often the only way to solve these problems is to reload the OS. If you can still access your system, now is a good time to back up all your data that you don't want to lose in case the system crashes hard and you need to reformat and reload.

Previous shutdown 128

A negative shutdown code may be from a hardware problem. (The codes are not publicly documented.)

Please, backup your system and important data before doing anything.

It could be from heat buildup, if your vents look clogged with dust, turn off your computer, then, gently vacuum or blow out any dust or other obstructions from the vents on your computer.

This isn't an expensive repair for a qualified shop - but I would suggest not continuing to test your shutdown circuit. What's happening is that HV (high Voltage) is builds beyond tolerances and the shutdown circuit turns your unit off to keep from causing any severe damage. If it failed you could likely burn out the SMPS or cause some substantial damage..
Good Luck!
