A negative shutdown code may be from a hardware problem. (The codes are not publicly documented.)

Please, backup your system and important data before doing anything.

It could be from heat buildup, if your vents look clogged with dust, turn off your computer, then, gently vacuum or blow out any dust or other obstructions from the vents on your computer.

If you have an Intel based Mac, try this:

If this doesn't work, please consult an Apple Genius Bar:

  1. Seven blinks - High voltage shutdown. The high voltage has exceeded 33k and the unit goes immediately into safety shutdown. Check power supply regulation and horizontal circuits. Nforce4-a939 board ,my system shows single channel 64 bit but on perchasing it was dual channel 128 bit how can i fix it......

The 128-bit mode is achieved by putting _matching_ sticks of RAM in the RAM-slots. Non-matching RAM will run as "single-channel" (64-bit) mode.

Matching RAM must have the _same_ amount of RAM per stick,
and the same internal "timing" parameters (look closely at the RAM for strings like 3-2-2 or 2-2-2-2).

If you have exactly 2 RAM slots on the motherboard, matching RAM will always run in "dual" mode.

If you have matching RAM, and you have 4 RAM slots, put one stick of RAM in slot #1, and one in slot #2, and leave #3 and #4 empty. Start it up, to see if it is using "dual" mode.

If not, shutdown, power-off, and move the RAM from slot #2 to #3, and start it again. This time, it will run in "dual" mode.

The server shutdown approxmatly every day

if the log says that the shutdown was unexpected, then I'd suspect a power outage at that time. If you're using a managed PDU, check to see if that outlet (or the whole pdu) is set to power cycle. If you have more then one power supply, I'd recommend plugging them into different pdu circuits. If you're pluged in to a UPS, suspect that the UPS is cycling and that there's no UPS management service running. If you're plugged into (yikes) the wall, suspect building power.
