Question about IBM ThinkPad R31 2656 Notebook

1 Answer

R31: "Wireless Network Unavailable" and nothing on the list!

I'm trying to use my laptop with my wireless DSL at home. It always works, but today the laptop is not recoginizing ANY local wireless network connections. I usually have a list of 3 or 4 (including my home one), but none are showing up at all today.

I have an IBM Thinkpad, R31, with the IBM High rate Wireless LAN MiniPCI Combo Card. I'm running Win XP.

Did some setting change that I can change (back) so that it works again?

Thanks!

This is only a problem with the firmware of your modem/router that you need to update it, because a network device like a modem and router that is working fine for severla years and suddenly stop working you just need to update the firmware of it and it should be working fine again, to update the firmware of the modem/router just need to call the manufacturer for that....

Hope that helps.........

Internet connecting

The IBM R31 2656 doesn't have an intergrated wireless network card. SO to connect to the internet via wireless (802.11x) you need a Wireless Card (USB or PCMCIA) a wireless router to receive the Signal and a Internet connection for the router (DSL or Cable modem)

You are trying to use the wireless network at your place or business? Is it secured? if so, you might need to get your IT staff to set up your home laptop for use there.

your wireless devices are not configure to the right value. Start the wireless network wizard in your desktop computer.(Start- Control Panel - Network and Internet Connections - Setup a wireless network for a home or small office) Follow the on-screen instructions. After finishing, run the wizard in the router and then run it in the devices that you want to connect to the network.

I have had that issue quite often and found that when you are using a router with DSL, the DSL modem and Router IP has a conflict because they are the same number. I suggest looking into a D-Link wireless router for use with DSL.
