Second time the motherboard has died on our laptop. HP replaced the first for free in October 2008 under the recall. Yesterday, the HP rep said the warranty on the new (replacement) motherboard expired last month and it will cost $400 to have the defective replacement replaced again. Seems to me this computer is simply a defective product. I will be anxiously waiting to hear if there is a class action lawsuit.
Should there be any company regulations on the purchase of their unit, that must be reviewed? Every company have their own legal consultant which would defend the company from any lawsuit and would see, review all legal matters concerning legalities on the purchase, loan and in fact, warranty regulations. However,it is also the right of every costumer/purchaser to lobby their complaints against the company who have units that seemed to give no enough services to their clients. Because every company is there to serve no to be served.
Second, they must have placed the replaced motherboard (new) into warranty period which will give maximum service to the buyer. However, if the second motherboard already have long overdue in its warranty, then the motherboard must be purchased. Yet it is still in the company's care to serve their clients. You have enough evidence concerning the flaw of the company's duties and responsibilities to its clients then it is your right to contact your own lawyer to call the attention of the company.
