How do I scan a document?

Do you have the full software installed or just the basic driver from Canon? What OS are you using? http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/printers_multifunction/pixma_mp_series/pixma_mp240#DriversAndSoftware has the software and drivers. If you installed the OS driver, you should uninstall that, disconnect the data cable and then install the driver from Canon. The generic OS driver usually only runs the printer.

Place the document face down on the scanner glass or face up if you have an ADF. Check that the all-in-one and the computer have good bi-directional communication. (Direct USB connection (if you are using that), replace cables if the printer works but not the scanner and the Canon software is installed.)

If you are using the Canon software, you need to set up the destinations for the buttons and have the monitoring software running. Thus start scanning from the computer at first. Launch MP Navigator and then click on the type of document you want to scan. Find the resolution and contrast that works for you. Use these in setting the button defaults (see the manual from Canon). Then click Scan.

Alternately, with Windows XP, Vista and Win7, you can scan with software that came with the OS. Paint is available on all of these OS versions (File > Import from camera scanner > from scanner). Vista includes PhotoGallery which works like Paint (this can be downloaded for XP and Win7). Vista and Win7 also can scan with Windows Fax and Scan (New Scan).

When you have the MP Navigator properly set up, you will be able to launch a scan from the printer. Press the Scan button and the software will launch.

I hope this helps.

I want to scan a picture onto my laptop i connected the cables and evrything. ir prints fine. but it dosent want to scan and my printer is a dell 924

Did you install the full software (if available for your OS) before connecting the cables? Were you trying to launch the scan from the computer or the scanner? The scanner buttons will not work unless the full software is installed and the monitor program is running.

If you installed the generic OS driver, uninstall it and then unplug the data cable. Then download and install the software from http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=1153481& . Select your OS and click Next then click on Drivers. Start scans from the computer first. (HP Solution Center has destination buttons that need to be set before the buttons on the scanner can work. Once you scan from the computer, you will have a better idea of the settings you should use as defaults for the buttons.)

Try connecting the printer directly to the computer, if you use a USB hub or print server. Also try a new USB cable. The scanner requires bi-directional communication and thus can fail even if the printer works. Your cable should be 6' or less in length.

WinXP, Vista and Win7 have options for scanning without the HP software. However, they do not work with the scanner buttons. Launch Paint (Start > All Programs > Accessories > Paint) and select File > Import from Camera or Scanner > From Scanner in any of the listed OS versions. Vista and Win7 also include Windows Fax and Scan (New Scan). Vista has included Photo Gallery that also can acquire Scans (this is available for Win7 as part of the Windows Live package download).

I hope this helps.

I cant scan pictures to my laptop it just keeps saying connecting to pc but never uploads

Do you have the full featured software installed on the computer and set up with the default destinations? Is the monitoring program listening for the scan button being pressed? Can you launch a scan from the computer? Uninstall a generic OS driver that you may have installed and disconnect the data cable (if USB) before attempting to install the full software.

Try a new data cable (scanning requires bi-directional communication and can fail even when the printer works). Try a direct connection if you have a print server or a USB hub in place. Try using a different port and check if a known working device works as well.

Next launch the scan from the computer. Depending on your software, you may see a preview scan. Adjust the settings and try to get the full scan. If you get a failure at this point, it is frequently a cable issue.

I hope this helps.

(if the full-featured software is not available for your OS from your scanner manufacturer, then you will always need to launch the scan from the computer. WinXP, Vista and Win7 all can obtain scans with Paint (File

How can I scan a document?

First do you have the full software installed or just a generic OS driver? http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=emea_middle_east&product=3177566&os=219&lang=en has the drivers for supported OS versions. Sometimes the generic driver only runs the printer.

It is best to start your scanner from the computer the first time. The buttons on the scanner will only work after you set the destinations in the software, if the monitoring program is running. Place your document face down on the glass (or face up in an ADF). Launch the HP Solution Center (Start > All Programs > HP folder > Solution Center or by double-clicking the shortcut on the desktop) Click the appropriate button (Scan Picture or Scan Document) and adjust the settings as needed. Click Scan. Use the Help function to set up the destinations for using the buttons on the all-in-one.

If you want to scan without using the HP Solution Center, you can't use the buttons on the scanner. Paint (XP, Vista or Win7) will acquire scans (File > Import from Camera or Scanner). Vista (some versions) and Win7 have Windows Fax and Scan as well (New Scan). Vista comes with Photo Gallery (and the program is available as a free download for Win7) that can also acquire scans.

I hope this helps.

How do i scan a document so that i can attach it or save it to a flash drive?

It will depend on if you have the full software installed and want to use that software or another program. Put the document face down on the glass or face up in an Auto-document Feeder.

Launch the HP Solution Center (Start > All Programs > HP > HP Solution Center). Click Scan Picture or Scan Document and adjust the settings if desired and click OK. Set the scan destination and file type. Then press Scan. If you want to use the buttons on the scanner to launch the scan software on the computer, you need to set up the scan to destinations and settings in the Solution Center first.

WinXP, Vista and Win7 can acquire scans with Paint (File > Import from Camera or Scanner), Vista (some versions) and Win7 have Windows Fax and Scan (New Scan) and Photo Gallery (download from Microsoft for Win7).

I hope this helps.

How to scan something and enter it into the computer?

It will depend a bit on your OS and installation. Put the document face down on the glass or face up in the ADF (auto-document feed). Make sure you have a good data cable (bi-directional communication is needed for scanners) if you are using a wired setup. Scans can fail when the printer works without a good cable. Wireless communications issues can also do this so I prefer wired with scanners.

If you have the full software installed, start that the first time so that you can set the Scan button destinations. Then if the monitoring program is running, you will be able to use the buttons on the scanner to launch the scan software on the computer. Choose the scan type (picture or document) and you get a Preview scan. If needed, hit Cancel and click on Settings then Scan Settings to set the desired resolution and other items. When ready click Scan again. In Scan Settings you will see a item Button Settings and Front Panel Settings (to set what will display on the unit to scan directly to the computer).

If you do not have the full software installed, then Windows XP, Vista and Win7 can acquire scans in Paint (File > Import from Camera or Scanner). Vista (some versions) and Win7 have Windows Fax and Scan which will also acquire scans (New Scan). (You can also acquire scans in Windows Photo Gallery which can be added from Microsoft for Win7.)

Software and drivers are here for supported OS versions: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=3737195& . Select your OS in the drop-down menu and click Next. Uninstall any generic driver and unplug the USB cable, if using a wired connection, before installing the full software.

I hope this helps.

How do I use my scanning feature? I need step by step instructions to get a scanning job down. Where do I find the instructions?

Are you using the full-featured software or the generic driver in the OS? The generic drivers often only run the printer. The full software must be installed before the USB cable is connected to the all-in-one. If you have the generic driver, uninstall it first.

HP has many help files on scanning (depending on your OS and set-up)
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/documentSubCategory?tmp_rule=23133&tmp_task=useCategory&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=1153481

Basically, put the document face down on the glass (or face up in a document feeder) If the full-featured software is installed, start the HP Solution Center (Start > All Programs > HP (folder) > HP Solution Center (slightly different for Macs) or double-click on the icon for the program on the desktop.). Click on the Scan Photo or Scan Document icon in the software and set the resolution and other settings when the pop-up comes up. Set up the destination (Scan to, File Type, etc) Then click Scan. If you get a preview scan, you can make adjustments and then Scan.

If you have the Scan to destinations set up for the buttons, you can use the buttons on the scanner if the monitor program is running (Scan Photo and Scan Document) See the programs help to set up these shortcuts.

If you have XP, Vista or Win7, you can also scan into Paint (File, Import from Camera or Scanner in Win7). Vista has another program that will aquire scans. Win7 has Windows Fax and Scan (click on the New Scan button).

Scanning needs two-way communication so print servers and USB hubs can interfere. A new USB cable or connecting to a different USB port (direct connection) are quick things to try if you can't get a scan to complete.

I hope this helps.

How to install my lexmark x75 to windows 7

Unfortunately, this all-in-one printer is not supported by Lexmark under Win7. As a printer only, it should work with Win7 (according to the Win7 Compatability Center) as a plug-and-play printer using the Win7 built-in drivers. However, you probably will lose the scan functions. Connect the USB cable and see what happens.

If you need the all-in-one to function completely, there is an option with Win7 Pro or Ultimate (if your computer supports virtualization). Download and install the two programs that create the XP mode from Microsoft. Install the program using the XP software/driver from Lexmark (long URL).
http://support.lexmark.com/index?locale=en&segment=DOWNLOAD&startover=y&userlocale=EN_US&question=drivers+for+x75&productCode=LEXMARK_X75&page=answers&detectedProductFacet=CMS-CATEGORY_REF.LEXMARK.PRODUCTS.ALLINONE.LEXMARK_X75&searchid=1268088417555

You may need to save files to external media to share them between the two "computers".

I hope this helps.

My new computer is window 7 which is not compatible with the instalation disk how I can install for windows 7

It's not proven compatible with Win7. However, there is a Vista driver. Try installing this (possibly with the Compatibility Mode - right click on the install file and select properties and the Compatibility tab).
http://onlinesupport.fujixerox.com/setupDriverForm.do?ctry_code=NZ&lang_code=en&d_lang=en&pid=DP203A

This driver is dated 2008 and thus well before Win7. If you have Win7 Pro or Ultimate, the XP mode might work. This involves downloading and installing 2 programs to create a virtual computer. Then install the printer on the XP "machine" as if that is the only computer. To transfer files from one computer to other, you may need to save files to external media.

I hope this helps.

Where can Iget drivers / software to use my RX620

Windows 7 will install its own driver for your Epson printer. If you have connected the USB cable, disconnect it for now.

With your computer on, power on your printer. Now plug in the USB cable. Win7 will automatically install a driver for your printer.

The Win7 compatible TWAIN driver and Epson Scan Utility software can be download from Epson support:

Be sure to choose the file(s) for your Win7 version.
