There is a bad connection inside the electric range. The most common place is on the terminals of the bake element.

Hope this helps and have a great day!

    Thank you for the response.

Since everything's properly connected, you may need to check the EOC (Electric Oven Controller). Sometimes, the EOC is killing the power to the element.

You need to have a meter so that you could also check if there are parts of the circuit that is not sending voltage to the element.

These are the things that you need to check.

    Have a good one!

Oven won't bake

Sounds like a connection issue to the control panel and the lower portion of the unit. Contact a professional to have the unit diagnosed unless you find the ohm reading to be off for either broil or bake element.

When i turn on bake it goes to preheat but nothing happens. the broiler and top burners work fine

If a gas range, you have a defective ignitor,
If electric, you have a burnt out back element

Oven elements do not heat?

The oven bake element has burnt out and needs replacing. Shut the power off to the range. Remove the element mounting screws located inside the oven above or below each end of the element. Carefully slide the element out, disconnect electrical wiring. Install new element.

When set to bake oven does not preheat and tempature does not increase. when set to broil oven heats

Since your oven has a separate element for bake and broil I would bet the bake element is burnt out or burnt electrical connection to the element. Make sure you disconnect all power to the range before checking.

Hi ,I have model jgs8850ads,it takes along time to preheat, about 40 min. what could this be? please respond.

is this a duel fuel with an electric oven..... the bake is the bottom and the broil is the top both cycle on and off to preheat the oven.... if ur lower bake element is burnt out then u woould expereicnce the problem u stated..... if u have a gas oven then ur ignitor or glow bar is probably burnt out....... either way it sounds like your bake element or bake ignitor has failed

Bottom element quit working, replaced it with new one, still does'nt work

You need to check voltages with a meter while running bake to pinpoint problem.
Other parts of range that require 240 volts are working so you know you have full voltage to range. If there are no F codes and control shows lower oven on would suspect main control board if you can not find a burnt wire anywhere. Do not recommend testing live voltage unless your trained, and if you order the part direct remember if the shipped part is bad and you install it, you own it.
