SOURCE: mor-flo/american water heater seriel #KK2160882

I did not find this particular model but the designs by American Mfg are pretty much the same.
Take a look at this link: (page 3 left picture)
http://www.bdub.net/manuals/MorFlo-WaterHeater.pdf

The anode rod #47070 is under the large flat brass fitting on the top of the tank. (Not connected to any external plumbing.) Just make sure that there is no water pressure in the tank before removing the anode rod.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

On this mor flo, which one does the water flo into the tank ?

The water looks like it flows in from the bottom line, but picture is difficult to interpret. Are there any lines in the top, that's more normal for water to go into the tank at the top.

That would likely be FLO... Check to be sure you have good strong water flo at the jets returning to the pool or spa... Check your filter to be sure you have cleaned it properly. A dirty filter will reduce flo and result in the heater not working if the water flow is too low.

There unfortunately a large number of factors to be able to provide much more information without a detailed description of your equipment, the layout, valve positions and condition of the equipment.

I have a MOR-FLO gas water heater and it is leaking from the bottom, what should I do ?

If your water heater is leaking from the bottom, and you are sure that it is not coming from anywhere else, then the tank is most likely rusted, and will need to be replaced.

I have had this problem with a couple of MOR-FLO AMERICAN gas water heaters. What I would suggest is first make sure that combustion air inlet screen on the bottom of the heater is clean of all lint, animal hair, etc. Also clean the screen around outside of heater base, not every installer uses this screen.
Next check to see how thermocouple is positioned in burner compartment. If it is touching the bottom of heater then try to reposition it so there is a little clearance.
Check height of flue through roof and position relative to other roof structures. With these sealed combustion units I have had problems with the pilot light blowing out due to wind speed and direction. I have fixed this problem a couple of times by raising height of flue pipe one or two feet. I hope this helps you. Thanks

Will only run for about 5 min then shuts down, and will not light again. Gives a ILO and CFH on the board.

Without more info I would have to say you need to increase water flo through the heater. If you don't have enough water flo the heater will boil the water inside heater and shut down. The heater has a pressure switch that reads OK but you have by-pass valves that may be open or stuck letting too much water go by the heater. One on the pipes going in and out of the heater may have a valve bridging the two that need's to be 80-90% closed forcing water through the heater. Then there is another spring loaded disc inside the main water header that you can remove and clean or replace that does the same job only the spring controls the flow automaticly. Good luck and HAPPY NEW YEAR.

There are two types of elements. One uses a 1-1/4" socket and the other used 4-bolts. If your water heater is so old that you can not find replacement elements, do yourself a favor and replace the whole heater with something more efficient.
