Question about Eljer Home

Open Question

What do I use to clean the clogged whole where the water flows into the toilet bowl from around the rim? Sometimes the debris on the sides of the bowl is not washing down into the bottom of the bowl.

SOURCE: I have a toto one piece toilet and the side walls

There is no way to increase the water but what you can do is take something that is a bit smaller than the outlet holes and push up and down to insure that there hasn't been any build up. You can also use something that removes lime by removing the flush valve (flapper) and pouring it directly into the hole. It will remove some of it. Let it sit for about 5 minutes and then turn the water back on and rinse several times. You can also increase the water amount in the tank which will get you a longer flow rather than volume.

SOURCE: Toilet not flushing completely

Prelude:
My toilet had the same problem a few times. I managed to clean it out because the pipe is somehow connected to the downstairs drainage pipe in my house. What fixed the toilet clog was going to the source of the problem and pouring extremely powerful hair clog remover chemicals in it (I did have to open all the windows and get the pets as far away as possible and wear a mask). After the specified amount of time waiting, I went to go flush and it worked.

**Answer**:
I would recommend doing the same thing but only if everyone in the house is gone for 1 hour. Also I would air it out by leaving windows open, not first floor doors or windows though. It can be deadly if inhaled for extended periods of time. The more powerful the cleaner, the better the results but the deadlier it can be if inhaled. Try this.

My second guess is that it may be the plug inside the toilet's tank. You should check to see if it is working properly. Try flushing with the lid off and watch the plug to see if it is working properly.

Is there any way to clean INSIDE the toilet bowl rim? I don't mean under it, I mean inside, where mold seems to have formed.

the underneath of the rim is not completly open but a series of holes to direct the water flow
the best way to clean in that area would be to put some quality cleaner ( bleach or such like ) in the cistern water then flush the toilet
do it a couple of times and see if it improves the situation
talk with an accredited plumber as the problem may be in the water supply allowing the mould to grow
it takes water and moisture for the growth of mould so it may be a leaking stop washer in the cistern that is the real culprit
as after a flush that area of the bowl dries out and mould will not start

After flushing the macerator kicks in OK but doesn't deal with all the poo.It will take about 3-4 flushes for it all to disappear.Asked plumber who fitted unit about this he said it was due to the smaller...

Typically this will have if the pump is either not vented at all or lack of air flow on the vent pipe. Most of this units have an 1 1/2" vent connection on top of the lid which should be vented to the open air to allow air to flow in and out of the vent pipe at all times. If you already have a vent pipe connected, disconnect it from the top of the lid and leave the vent connection open to the room so air can flow in and out, then flush the toilet, one flush should get rid of all the solids. Also check the rim of the bowl, water should enter evenly all around the rim of the bowl. If you see more water on one side than the other, then could be calcium build up or an obstruction inside the rim of the bowl.

When I flush my toilet, the water in the bowl rises all the way to the top like it is going to overflow but stops just short of over flowing. Then it drains out but very LITTLE water stays in the bowl. ...

You have some type of obstruction in your drain. Try a plunger when the toilet is still fairly full. The reason the water level is so low is the toilet was finished filling when the water went all the way down. a714b1a.jpg
If you can't get it open with a plunger, a closet auger works well 7163d19.jpg

After flushing, water level in bowl fills and then slowly drops.

Check to be sure small tube is flowing inside the ovefow tube. This is the water that flushes the rim holes, and refills the bowl. If you don't have flow clean or replace the float valve.

Tiolet not flushing right. Water not coming down the side of the bowl when flushing and 90 percent of the water is gone from the bowl.

1- Check ports out under rim all round bowl.

2-Check tank fill level for required amount to with in 5/8" to top of over flow tube.

3-Make sure 1/4" fill tube is connected to over flow tube. From fill valve to overflow tube.

Below is a few details to go by I hope will be helpful for you to take care of this problem.

Under the rim of the bowl check the ports and make sure they are not stopped up. You can open them up with nail or pin to clean out ports.
Next check tank level and make sure the fill valve has a line run from it to top of the overflow tube. This line allows water to goe to bowl and tank to fill required amount needed.
Water in tank should be within 5/8" to top of over flow tube.

Bowel cleaning

Check the ports under the rim and make sure they are not clogged. To do this you can use a nail or pin to clean them out.
Right under the rim of the bowl are these ports that allow the water to flow into bowl in a turning motion to aid in flushing and cleaning wall's of the bowl.
Inside the tank check the fill tube and make sure it is connected from the fill valve to the over flow tube. Also check the fill level in the tank and make sure water is up to the line on the fill tube about 5/8" from top of tube.

Keeps clogging

Have you check the toilet for proper water level in tank. Level will be near mark on overflow tube or within 5/8" from top or it adjust float if not to get it there.

Next is the fill line 1/4" poly line connected to fill valve to overflow tube to allow proper amount of water in bowl.

Port's under the rim are clear on not clogged you can use a nail or paper clip to push through thes to clean out. You can't see them they are under the rim of the bowl.

If something fell in bowl and got flushed it could be hanging up in the trap in the bowl. If you have some rubber gloves check out drain in bowl before trying to use something to push it further in the drain.

If nothing found maybe try a 6 ft auger you can get these fairly cheap and they are handy to have around.

Toto toilet has weak flush

Check water level in tank and also under rim off toliet bowl where water come's out. Make sure level in tank is right and it has ports all around rim. they can be clogged up also.

You can use a roofing nail to stick in ports it is several around under rim that you can't see but are there where water comes out. Because if the ports some are stopped up it will restrict proper amount of water to certain areas.
