SOURCE: x-spring tab broken in ink receptacle (HP officejet 7310)

I have the same problem, I can fix the wire in place, but there is a second problem, the wire poked a small hole through the thin plastic circuit membrain at the back, so even taping the wire in place no longer fixes the problem.

The plastic chute for the ice dispenser drops down and holds the flap open. How can I make the chute stay in place?

no way has a molded retainer clip that has broken off but if it just popped off and the little tab located towards the bottom is still intact you can snap it back into proper postion if not must order new chute.

Carriage Jam, but there is no paper jam. The manual does NOT help me.

1. open the printer and move the carriage manually. if it moves freely go to step 2
2. check if there is a broken carriage chute. if it is damage the replace the printer or find someone who could fix it manually
3. turn the printer off and on. if it wont work go to step 4
4. check if there are paper jams.if there are non then go to step 5
5. uninstall and reinstall the ink cartridges. lastly go to step 6 if it wont work
6. reset the printer. unplug the power cord of the printer and before plugging it back again. press and hold # and 6 and do not release the buttons unless the printer would turn off or it would say "reset"
9. replace the printer it is of no use

X-spring tab broken in ink receptacle (HP officejet 7310)

I think you right. There are a lot of small parts which are finely tuned in a printer and most likely something else is still affected.
You probably are better off purchasing a new unit, unless you have the time and patient to figure it out.
Good Luck!

Broken tab which holds ice chute door

unfortunatly, you cant. it is a unservicable part. if you ask me, it is one of the most rediculas design flaws I have ever seen. I run into this at many service calls, which means they break all the time. you have to buy a ney door to get the part with that plastic tab. im still baffled by this MAJOR engineering flaw

Carriage jam

Step 1: Move the carriage to the center manually if necessary If the carriage is stuck on the right or left side of the product, follow these steps to move the carriage to the center of the product.
Step 2: Check for a broken carriage chute
The carriage chute is the side wall of the carriage that holds a curved metal piece (the x-bias spring). A broken carriage chute might cause the carriage jam condition.
Step 3: Turn the product off and on again
Step 4: Clear any paper jam.
Step 5: Make sure that the control panel faceplate is correctly installed
Step 6: Plug the All-in-One directly into a wall outlet
Step 7: Perform a partial reset
Step 8: Print a self-test page

Step 9: Service the product. Now this model is outdated as per HP website.

Long 20 inch plastic was taken out of a HP 1220 C Printer.

This plastic strip is probably the so called "encoder strip", it has many fine black lines that the carriage sensor counts to find out where the carriage is located on the paper.

This encoder strip is attached directly to the printer's frame on the right, and to a leaf spring on the left side. It also runs through a slot on the back side of the carriage.

It can be treaded back and reattached if you're nimble-fingered, but in many cases it's broken and needs to be replaced. As far as I remember HP doesn't sell these parts separately (correct me if I'm wrong!) so if it's broken the printer most probably has to be turned in for service.

But if the encoder strip is intact, there's no right or left side - or up/down - of it, so it can be attached any way you want - as long as you get it back properly. Usually it's best to first hook it up on the leaf spring, then attach it on to the small hook on the right side. Being able to slide the carriage back and forth eases the operation. You can get it back without disassembling the printer; it's fiddly but it's possible.

Good luck! :)

Broken ink cartridge holder: Xerox WorkCentre 470CX

Usually when part of the Carriage is broken, it involves taking the Carriage Assembly apart which also deals with the head assembly, Timing , etc. I would call your local Xerox dealer or printer repair depot. Get an estimate then make a decision whether it's economical to have it repaired.

I could not find a service manual for your unit. I did find this on Xerox's site:

If the Ink Cartridges do not snap in straight or seem loose, the Carriage may be broken and your WorkCentre will require service. Click "Email for Support" in the Please Help section at the bottom of this page to contact Team Xerox for service
1-800-ASK-XEROX or 1-800-275-9376

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

Ice Chute door dislodged

IF THE ICE DOOR HAS COME OFF, THE CHANCES ARE THAT THE PLASTIC TAB THAT HOLDS THE HINGE PIN IN PLACE HAS BROKEN. IT IS PART OF THE PLASTIC HOUSING. WHIRLPOOL/KITCHENAID HAS A FIX KIT THAT REPLACES THE PLASTIC TABS WITH A METAL BRACE THAT IS PRESSURE TAPED IN PLACE. I HAVE INSTALLED A COUPLE OF THESE KITS AND IT TAKES PATIENCE AND TIME. THE KIT WILL HAVE INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO INSTALL. FIRST VERIFY THAT THE TAB HAS BROKEN. IT IS LOCATED IN THE UPPER LEFT SIDE OF THE OPENING TO THE ICE CHUTE.
