You'll need to take the tape casing apart but need special security torx bits to do that (a T-8 and T-9). Once apart (careful, two small springs inside) you can take the tape spool apart and rewind the tape to re-establish tension. Then re-assemble!

My K & E 100' Favorite Wyteface tape will not rewind. This is such a beautiful device and I hate to trash it. There are no visible screws holding the shells together. The shells are leather with a steel...

most tapes have a single screw under the belt clip that holds it all together. You will have to pull it apart to replace the broken spring on the end of the tape.

I have a Stanley Power Lock 30' Tape Measure with 2' 9" of tape that I cannot get back into the housing, Is there an easy solution to this problem? Advise and thanks,

you can try to pull the tape all the way out and then with a rag lightly oiled let the tape rewind back into the housing if that does not work then you probably need to purchase a new tape. for whatever reasona the spring inside has gotten weak. i use a tape daily and have had this same problem when a tape gets old or abused

Tape came out of unit. Can it be put back in and still rewind itself?

Yes, but it is a royal pain. The tape has a slot (some are "T" shape and some are tear-drop) in the end, and this fits on to a tension coil inside the unit. What you have to do is re-coil the spring and reattach the tape to it... that is assuming that the tape did not come out because it broke at the slot. There is no way to find out haw many times the spring must be wound, so it is all trial and error.

personally - I suggest waiting untill they go on sale and picking up a new one. I know that's not the answer you want, but it may be a lot easier.

Good luck.

Tape keeps getting ejected

This unit requires the rubber parts to be replaced. The loading sequence is not completing properly. The VCR will eject the tape when the sequence fails as a safety measure to prevent damage to either the VCR or the tape.

Parts cost for this should not be more than $10.

some cameras have a memory where they begin make sure the memory is off or cleared then try to rewind or try fwd to end clear memory then rewind tape...

now sometime tapes of 120 are really not recommended because of the load of tape amd ost have a tension sensor 60m is usually the best recommended

VTR won't play

I would take a look at the loading machanism to see if it is properly loading the tape, usually on these type of machines if the tape is not being loaded properly the tape will not play. The rewind working indicates that the motor is still working so what you may also have is a gear problem, in which you will have to look at the gear system as the tape is loading and trying to go into play mode. This looks more like a mechanical problem then an electronics issue. However I would not rule out have to take voltage measurements to confirm that the electronics are ok (you will need a schematic for this, and a multimeter).
