VPC-EA36FM mouse buttons

The left mouse button seems to no longer work although a distinct click can be heard once it is pressed. The right mouse button can be used fine. Is this button assembly replaceable and how do I get the parts. The service manual is $159.00!!

SOURCE: My laptop left mouse button has stopped working

Common hardware problem. The correct solution is a replacement tracker pad and mouse, however you may be able to get the problem fixed by cleaning under the pad. Either way it requires taking the laptop apart.

SOURCE: two buttons beneath touchpad are not working

You should clean the button by opening the cover, realign it, and check if the button touches to the board.

Left click will not work

I have found that the best way to adjust your mouse settings is to create a control panel in your bottom toolbar scroll to the bottom of your screen right click you will see an array of options select the toolbar option then select desktop then you will see the desktop in the bottom toolbar select the 2 >>arrow heads then all control panel items then select mouse this is in WINDOWS 7 then click on the >> all control panel items scroll to mouse in the buttons tab you will see the defaults left button right button and middle wheel click you might have to set the left click button again in XP you will have to select the new toolbar option once you have that a browse option select my computer then control panel then a control panel option will be in the bottom toolbar . Or disconnect the mouse from your computer restart.

Loss of control over my mouse.

Hi Arsenal,

My Logitech cordless occasionally does the same thing. On mine it was caused by a build up of gunk over the optical sensor. Once I cleaned it, it functioned normally.

I know it doesn't make sense as far as the buttons. I'm just sharing what worked for me. Hope it works for you.

Best regards
Mike

I've got a optical mouse 3000, and a bunch of batteries in the junk drawer, I'm sure at least one of them has good life in them, but the mouse keeps flashing red....also it seems to work when I right...

The red light is connectivity to the dongle on the PC.
Check your mouse settings in Windows for the left mouse button settings.
Does the mouse move on the screen?
You can try reversing the mouse buttons to see if the button is defective. If you swap the buttons and now right mouse clicks do not work, the button is defective.

The left mouse button on my Studio 1535 no longer works. The right one is fine. Can I fix it or do I need to replace the whole assembly?

Hello,

Try to configure it as a mouse for left handed persons and see if it responds to your clicks.

In any case you should go to Control Panel, Mouse Properties. By pressing a button, the picture on the screen should show you if it is activated. If it does not then there nay be some hardware problem.

If you do not need the Context menus (right click) try setting the right button as the one to perform the usual click.

But nothing beats a new fancy mouse.

Hope this gives you so solutions.

Mouse has lost its grip! (electrical grip, that is)

ok. i see your having great time using that mouse and you cared that device for several years. Try open your mouse and carefully remove these buttons of your mouse to clean those dirty stuff stacked on those linings( I believe that you haven't done this before, right?). I believe that this will need to clean a bit to give it back on track again.

"sticky" mouse on compaq laptop

Unless your left mouse button has been severely damaged, it is unlikely that a loose button is the cause of your problem. More likely, it is your touchpad. Chances are your touchpad is set to click when tapped. Oversensitive touchpads can click randomly when you're dragging your finger across the touchpad.

To test this, position your cursor over a link (or other button) but don't press the left mouse button. Instead, lightly tap the touchpad itself. If the link or button is clicked, go to your Control Panel and adjust the Mouse options so your touchpad no longer clicks when tapped. It's usually a setting titled "tap to click" or something along those lines.

Switching between PC's makes the mouse run wild

Sadly, this is a known issue with this series of KVM switches (3 out of 5 on Amazon) and I have not seen or heard of any fix. I have heard of older mice operating correctly but even that seems to be hit-or-miss.
