I have a toshiba portege m100 with a bios password set that i need to bypass. toshiba want 80 quid just to look at it. some sorces say short clr1 jumper but i cant find it on my machine. please help.

Most DESKTOP computers have a jumper to "clear CMOS settings",
but most NOTEBOOK computers do NOT have that jumper.

The password exists to protect the owner of the computer, should a thief be trying to use the computer.

You probably can remove the disk-drive, and copy the files onto a new computer, if you don't want to pay TOSHIBA to bypass the password.

I HAVE A TOSHIBA MODEL:L505-S5990 I HAVE A PASSWORD BIOS HELP TO UNLOCK MY LAPTOP THANKS ADVANCE SAY ME WHAT CAN I DO

locate the jumpers for reseting the BIOS with hardware... beware all settings on CMOS would be restored to default factory settings and password will be erased. Jumpers would be on the mobo near the proc/ near the memory modules/ near the edge etc...learn to use the jumpers from manuals for ur model of laptop...cos each model varies in the location and use of jumpers

I/O Magic drive is really Toshiba SH-S182 - I need jumper help

The jumper settings are located in the manual. You can download it here (it takes a few minutes to download). I have tested it and it does work and has the jumper settings for you.

I would be most grateful if you would rate my answer for me. Thank you.

How to set a Toshiba MK8064GSX hard drive as a slave? The web site shows a group of 4 pins (2 over 2) This drive has 4 pins in a row.

u have to set the jumper to the set of 2 pins that are after the power cable socket
suppose this is the powercable socket 0000 then the jumper will be set to the 2nd row of the folling pins assembly that will be 0000 :[:]:: jumper position -> [ ] look in to the pic and u need to set the jumper on the pins that says slave

Jumper settings

There is no jumper settings, it is just a small bridge aside the bios Chip. you bridge the two pins and power to reset cmos.

A much easier way is removing the Cmos coin shaped battery from motherboar for few seconds, and put it back, this will reset Cmos the same .
