Question about Ricoh Aficio SP C811DN Laser Printer
I sent a print job from QuarkXpress to a Ricoh c811dn printer. The printer displayed Printing... for about 15 minutes before I selected to Reset all Jobs. The printer displayed Resetting Job... for another 15 minutes before I selected to Reset all Jobs again. The job still would not reset so I pulled power and network for over an hour while I did other stuff. I came back, plugged in power (no network), and the printer displayed Printing... same print job. Reset all Jobs... no luck. I've been trying to get a tech onsite but it's been very difficult given our location. There doesn't seem to be anything in the hardware/software manuals.
Q: Is there a lower level way to clear the print job from RAM or maybe hard-drive? I know there is a service mode, but I do not have documentation on how to use it.

Enter the menu of the printer pressing once the relevant button and with the up or down buttons find the list test print. Then press once # or OK (whatever the machine has) and you see Configuration page. By pressing once again the # or OK it prints the Config.Page, which somewhere on the top of thw sheet shows the pages printed (first the black and then the colour. Good luck!

There is probably nothing wrong with the printer, but it may not be be receiving all the dope it needs. Usually the printer needs a CR/LF signal at the end of the file to print. If it doesn't get that it will assume that it hasn't got all the file and will hang. This may be a setting in the application producing the file, or a setting on the printer itself (i.e needing either a full CR/LF signal or just one of these). Don't like the idea that it doesn't print its own test page though....
