Question about Parmak Solar Fence Charger

1 Answer

I just bought a Parmak 6 volt solar electric fence unit and the wiring inside the unit was disconnected. I have 3 red wires (pos) and 3 black wires (neg).. I would assume all 3 red go together and all black panel and battery in parallel and that output goes to charger unit...but not quite sure if it goes some other way.... thanks, Bruce

Parmak 6 is showing the volt red line is pass the green charge line and it doesn't have a good charge, it's very weak and everything is clear - nothing touching the wire.

I would first start with the battewry, 2 year run on battery is pretty good. You can go online and find replacement batteries or go to place of purchase and check with them.

12v solar charger is not clicking when turned on.

disconnect the unit from the fence and turn it on. if the fencer work(ticks, meter moves) then it is a fence issue(short, broken wire). if it doesn't then it is an issue with the unit its self and it will probley need a PCB or service.

We have a Parmak electric fencer, model # s.e.3 and serial # 4401002. It just quit working. When you plug it in it makes this humming sound and then quits. Any ideas?

That sounds like the circuit board has failed in the unit. you can call Parmak and see about either purchasing a replacement circuit board , or getting the unit serviced by them or an authorized service center.

Why do my horses keep going through the fence in the winter? We have the 12v solar unit! It seems as though there is a delay with the shock!

Trim your horses whiskers (on the muzzle) and they won't be able to tell if the wire is hot or not. Horses test electric fencing with whiskers. I would suspect because days are shorter and more cloud cover your charger is not producing enough power.

Ok, i feel pretty dumb. apparently the horses ( or maybe the wind? ) knocked the top off the solar panel box. i went to hook it back up.... which wires go where???

Red to red , black to black . or if it is an older version white to white black to black . a mixed version would be w/b b/r

My Parmak solar fence charge does not work. I have new battery. I opened the metal box with all the capacitors and wires and there is a yellow wire that came unsoldered leading from the little electrical...

We have what looks like the same charger. When you open the box right side up, from the front, the yellow wire is soldered to the right side of the circuit board right above the little white box that is marked .47363. It is next to a small round black transister.

Need battery

We have one of these, it's great.

See these links:

I would try removing the battery and charging it with a proper low-amperage charger (1 amp). Your battery will either be 6 volt or 12 volt, just be sure the charger matches.

Also check the ground rod and all wiring connections.

I bought a Parmak Solar Pak 6. I wanted to use it

when you touch the wire, you are probably wearing shoes, which ground you,
touching it barefoot or kneeling on bare knees should provide a bit more jolt.
take your multi-meter, shove one probe in the ground and touch the wire with the other and you should get a nice reading
