As I was shredding the red light came on and now I cannot restart the shredder. I have waited for about an hour.

I lived with the problem for 6+ Months -- drove me NUTS -- Today, I called Fellows -- Spoke to "JoAnn"... She said this works 80% of the time...
Pull out the bin -- put your foot inside to hold the shredder down -- pull up on the top of the shredder -- you WILL hear a POP as the plastic top disengages from the bottom but TRUST ME THIS IS OK! -- take off this top section (which houses the blades) -- flip it over -- you will see 6 screws total but it is the sets of 2 screws close together to focus on -- right next to the screws you will see a tiny glass sensor -- use a q-tip and alcohol to give them a wipe -- press the top back on -- bin back in -- you are DONE -- This took me less than 1 minute and it works as it did the day I got it! Go shred something! :)

If you oil this shredder, and this specific model uses electric eyes to start and stop, chances are they (optics) are dirty. Clean the optics (the sensors on top and bottom of the infeed)by performing the following. 1.Disconnect power. 2.Clean sensors with a soft cloth or cotton swab. 3. if you have canned (compressed air) blow out the same area. If this doesn' t correct the problem, you have a defective PC Board.

there are two switches under the cutter area. 1 for sensing when your basket is full, (sometimes these bin-full flaps get stuck in the up position, energizing the switch) and the other is a switch that detects if your basket is installed. fellowes has modified these shredders so many times, that there are alot of different configurations. look for something that resembles a flap under the head and make sure its in the down position. as for the basket sensor, some baskets had 2 projections on the left and right top of basket. one may be broke. if so, you can "cheat" the switch with a screwdriver to see if thats the problem.
