SOURCE: Oven will not heat to requested temperature

Shaffy, When baking only the bake element should heat. When broiling only the broil element (upper) should heat. Your oven is a Kitchenaid, you have a 5 year warranty on any electronic element or control board. You may have a temperature sensor that is not working right. The oven just might need to be calibrated, the instructions would be in your owners manual. Your bake element might be failing, it would have to be ohmed out. You also need to verify that the bake element is getting 240V. when turned on. Catriver...post back

SOURCE: GE Spectra XL 44 Gas Oven Bottom Heating Element Faulty

First look to see if the ignitor is coming on. Most common problem is the ignitor is weak or just bad. When the power is applied to the ignitor it glows and builds up resistance to open the gas valve then it lights. If the ignitor is weak or bad it will not build up enough resistance for gas to come into the burner. One sign of this would be a "woosh" sound when it trys to light. If the ignitor is coming on but not lighting it is most likely the ignitor is bad. Should have a full glow. Also, if the ignitor looks whiteish in color this is a sign of it going bad. You can compare to the broil ignitor to be sure. If the ignitor doesn't come on at all will need to see if you have power to the ignitor. Let me know what you find and let's solve it before you rate the solution.

I suspect that the oven element has failed, to check this, remove cover at rear of oven compartment, there you will see the round oven element, it should feel hot after turning oven on to heat, if it is cold, replace it.

Electric Oven Problems - What not to Use in Your Electric Oven

If you have an electric oven, there is one thing that you do not want to do. It does not matter if you have a wall electric oven, a wall double electric oven, or a freestanding electric oven. If the heating element in your oven is electric you do not want to do this.

After normal use of your oven the broiler pan, the oven racks, and the drip pans in the bottom of the oven can become soiled to the point where they will not clean properly anymore. Many people try to make the inside of their oven “look” better and give it a cleaner look by wrapping or covering these things with aluminum foil.

While this may give the oven a good clean look it also creates a problem for you and your oven. Aluminum foil is highly conductive and will “short” the electric elements in your oven if it comes in contact with them. This short means that the electricity will flow through the element and out of it at one point in an uncontrolled manner. This will cause a surge through the element to that point, which will cause the element to fail.

What many people also fail to realize is that the foil they wrap around these thing can move as the oven heats and cools. So even though the foil is far away from the element when you wrap it on, it can move till it comes in contact with the element and then in a moment it is too late to correct.

It has also come to my attention that some people may use aluminum pans in the bottom of the oven to catch any spillover that may happen. In my opinion that is just as bad as the foil wrap. These pans will warp with the heating and cooling also. If you can get a pan on the bottom rack and your food on the top rack, then you are good... the aluminum cannot get to the element in anyway...

If you have racks, pans, or other things in your oven that are too dirty and bother you…you are better off to buy new rather then take the chance on ruining your day in a flash.

Test element check for continuity across the terminals and it is getting power when switch onon. If both ok, chances are the front selector switch has blown.

The Oven turns on and sets to the proper temp. and runs like it is heating up but never gets hot.

your lookin at a heating element or thermostat id say. more likely the element.

take out oven trays, ul see a panel at back of oven, remove the screws holding it on and possibly the light cover as well. you should now see the element, sometimes u can visually see it warped and blown. if not take it out and test it using a multi meter. if it ok change the thermostat

My double oven has stopped working, its only the large fan assisted oven which is producing no heat. The top oven/grill works okay. Is it an element problem ?

If the fan is working o/k, then you need to fit a new oven element, located at rear of oven behind removeable cover.
Please rate my solution.
Thanks.

SMEG SA410X-S heat not coming on for fan forced cooking. The fan and light work, and the heat works fine for grilling.

The fan element (round) is more than likely blown. Open the oven door, take the rear cover off inside the oven (covers the element) and have a look at the element with a torch. If it is buckled, warped or has a blow hole in it, then it's faulty.

How do I replace the heating element in Neff U1461N2 main oven?

Switch power off first.
Remove the screws that secure the rear cover in the oven compartment.
There you will see the circular element, undo screws that secure element, slówly withdraw element towards you, disconnect leads, taking care not to lose them behind the aperture., fit leads onto new element, and refit element.
Refit cover and test.
Plz rate my solution.
Thanks.

I think this is a common problem with these kind of toaster ovens. Mine isn't a Toastmaster - mine is Cook's Essentials (from QVC), and my upper elements have also warped and split, although mine are curved downwards.
