How to set it up to universal remote

All the universal remote controls that I've had have come with a fairly comprehensive set of control codes for various appliances. If you don't have the manual you'll have to search online for a pdf relating to your universal which contains these codes.

Of what should a word conscious writer be aware when choosing between synonyms

I've pasted some basic information copied from http://www.whitesmoke.com/synonyms.html :

My own personal suggestion (also) is in bold below. Good luck to you!

[ "When replacing a word with its synonym, make sure the meaning of the sentence in the specific context is maintained as well. Synonyms are defined according to certain senses of words.

For example:

This is my senior year at University.

Senior in this sentence cannot be replaced with the words elder or older, since the meaning of the sentence will change and will make less sense.

However, senior in the sense of fourth year can be replaced with the word last and the meaning will remain the same as in the original sentence.

Good speakers and writers often vary their vocabulary and so can you! The best way to expand your vocabulary is to use a thesaurus. A thesaurus is a source that provides you with a listing of similar or related words you can choose from in order to vary your word choice in your text." ]

What are the methods for evaluating learning and facilitation in outcomes based education

This involves gathering evidence of the students' abilities and knowledge, using a variety of methods directly related to the performance or outcomes which are required of a competent learner.

So if you were assessing a spray painting student, you would observe samples of the student's work, and also the student preparing for and carrying out the necessary tasks over a range of required outcomes.

You could assess any theoretical knowledge needed via an oral interview, or a written test (IF the student had the required writing skills already, you are not assessing that).

Colour discrimination could be assessed by asking the student to match several samples as closely as possible, or to mix up a matching paint pot.

And so on. Outcomes based education is distinct from Inputs based learning, where an approved syllabus is studied, teaching materials are often standardised, tests are sometimes unfair, and no great emphasis is placed on the abilities and knowledge required for a specific workplace. Therefore a lot of knowledge has to be gained later by experience.
