Question about Umax Mirage II Flatbed Scanner

1 Answer

3 lights were flashing, now no lights flashing & not on

Tried to power up the scanner and nothing (no initialization) would happen other than the 3 front lights would flash. Now when I try to turn it on nothing happens and the lights no longer flash.

It is always handy to state the brand and the type of connection when referring a fault.
if its USB the check in ctrl panel DEVICE MANAGER if there is a yellow exclamation mark.
same for serial ...against the scanner

if this exclamation is there it means that it does not recognise the scanner and will need to be reinstalled.
check that the serial plug is on firmly, both at scanner and computer, dont just look... undo and reseat on both. Ensure the POWER plug is connected firmly and that it IS switched on.. try something else in that plug and see if it works.

simple things are often overlooked and users thinking technicians are just stupid to ask these questions, but 9/10 it is the simple thing that causes the problem.

How do I get my scanner to work?

Test scanner powers up - ie light comes on when first powered. If nothing - check your power supply and replace or repair if necessary.

Test data cables by changing cable or changing data port. If the scanner is USB connection you should see/hear a connection warning. If nothing happens - either your ports aren't active or your scanner i/o port is faulty

Check you have only one installation of the scanner in your scanners and cameras folder. If more than one copy - delete the spares.

run an inline fuel guage in the fuel line with a clear line, look for bubbles, do this witha an inline spark detector, that should tell you wether its fuel or spark shut down, either of these will not give you a code, i have spent many a day on intermittents, sometimes you just have to go back to baasics

All channels locked out on pro-97 model

You've somehow "initialized" it meaning, all of your frequencies have been deleted. You'll have to reprogram all of them.
Initializing is good if you want to wipe out everything & start fresh. It's not good when it happens "accidentally". It's happened to me twice & it's frustrating !!

Epson Stylus Photo 1270. All lights flashing. Whats wrong and how can I fix it?

Hi Guys
I had the same problem with all lights flashing nothing working, happened after a panic power shut down. As with peter after the paper button was released, printer lit up like a christmas tree again. I played around with the button combinations and found that holding down the ink button instead of the flashing paper button cleared the problem. Great tip guys saved me a lot of money. cheers me dears clive.

Won't complete initialization/calibration

Hi...I  have a PowerLook III, and that sounds like the super frustrating problem I used to have...first of all, don't worry about it not being used for awhile...I didn't use mine for 10 years and now it's great...except my Trans adapter problem. Anyway...I am running Mac OSX.4.11...I got a Ratoc SCSI to Firewire adapter from the Lasersoft people..they make the Silverfast scanninng software...and my scanner works great..no more creepy SCSI bus and driver and card issues...I highly recommed one...I hope this helps!
