I replaced the starter cartridge with a brand new Brother TN-350 cartridge. Now it gives a "no cartridge" message on the LCD. The little flag gear is intact. (There is no Flag Gear on the Starter) If I put a flag gear on the starter cartridge it reports the same LCD message. So the flag gear has something to do with it. But I don't know how to make the message go away. There has to be a sensor that is conflicting with the new cartridge in place. I don't have a service manual. Maybe someone has a solution.
There is a new toner detect sensor left front upper inside of printer, when a new toner is put in reset lever on cart hits sensor then fall back to front of cart, remove gear asst and put lever in new position, 3/4 the way back. reinsert toner into drum and insert.
The lever in cart is meant to hit switch then rotate back to front, you mentioned that it did that so it seems your problem is not that.
You do still have the drum in the machine as well as toner cart I hope
Switch on printer is always forward just gets pushed back on new toner insert, then returns home
Machine should be under warranty.
TN-2025 is toner for mfc 7220 not tn350

I tried to reset lever 3/4 back and I tried in start position. The toner sensor top left inside printer pushes up against flag lever and cause it to rotate to 3/4 position by itself. I reset it myself in several positions and still gives me a "no cartidge" LCD message. The starter cartridge ( I don't know how much is left) was giving a "low toner" message. Do you think the sensor that is in the printer that is moved when flag pushes the spring loaded arm could be malfunctioning? Should it be closed all the way or open, which depends entirely upon gcatridge flag position.
I have replaced with a new cartriage yesterday, and it was working fine...now I am back to the same error message........
what should I do ???
