You should probably take it to a Bernina repair person.

How do i repair X-Axis home position error for pr 600II

If the machine's embroidery arms have been moved under force when the machine's power is on, you may need to have the machine tune up and reset to true center. I would suggest taking it to a authorized repair shop for a good cleaning and service. In most cases for what you paid for the machine, there is included service that can come with the purchase of the machine, or in the least, a discount on mechanical services and repairs.

Sounds like your embroidery unit may have a bad motor or broken drive belt. Get that unit into a repair shop.

Embroidery unit on Brother pc8500d will not work

Hi Sharon,

That was my first "Convertible machine" I had the Baby Lock version. Exactly the same in every way, except for the name badge.

Make sure you have the "data door" open (revealed after the tool tray free arm section is removed.) and the "Feed Dog" Switch is "down for embroidery". If any of the connection tabs/pins on the "embroidery attachment" are missing or bent/broken off. the embroidery arm will not work properly.

With this old of a machine, look on EBay for external parts and things you need instead of seeking repair. Timing adjustments, and other machine maintenance can be done by most repair shops with a technician that repairs convertible embroidery/sew machines.

Put your machine name and model number in a search on youtube.com you will find a wealth of information there for your machine.

On 955E embroidery unit, the large black gear snapped

Welcome to FixYa. Hi - Viking has online tutorials for several of the 955E features, including embroidery.
Here is a link to the 955E tutorials. If the link isn't active, paste it into your brower window.

http://www.husqvarnaviking.com/us/6616_393.htm

As mentioned in the next paragraph, you can order a manual from your Viking dealer if you don't have yours. The Viking manuals aren't very expensive, and it is well worth having. You'll find detailed instructions for inserting and calibrating the embroidery arm, which happens everytime you insert the emb arm. See the Hints and Tips paragraph below.
If your machine is broken, the 955E Parts manual lists each part number in the machine, and the 955E Service Manual should provide instructions for repair. But because the 955E is not discontinued (as far as I know), the dealer might not be willing to sell you those manuals or order the parts you need. eBay often has Parts and Service manuals for sale for current model Viking machines, or you might be able to find them for sale on other web sites. Keep in mind that if your machine is still under warrantly, you risk voiding the warranty if you attempt to remove the covers and perform a "non-consumer" repair.
Some general hints and tips for inserting and removeing your embroiodery arm and navigating the Viking web site:
  • Always turn your machine off when you attach or remove your embroidery arm or when you insert or remove an embroidery design card.
  • When you insert your embroidery arm, insert an embroidery design card. When you turn your machine back on, you should see a message on the info screen that says something like "embroidery arm will move". Press OK, and the embroidery arm will calibrate.
  • After the embroidery arm has calibrated, place your hoop on the embroidery arm.
  • Look at each end of your embroidery arm - you will find a connector that must slip into a corresponding connector on the embroidery machine. This connector slides into a corresponding connector on the machine. The connector on the machine has a cover that slides open and closed. If it is closed, it you might not spot it right away. You must open this slot when you attach the embroidery arm - slide the embroidery arm straight back (not at an angle), so the embroidery arm connects to the machine securely. Although you might need to nudge the embroidery arm in place, do not force it!

My start/stop switch will not begin sewing

Is the problem with embroidery only? If with both sewing and embroidery function and there is no error code (just 00) on the display, my wife experienced the same problem. There was an internal sensor that was bad. The sewing machine shop repaired with a new Singer part. Part was about $20, labor was $180.
