One day I came home and my 360 had RROD. So.. My dad looked it up on Craig's List and there was a teen around here who fixes. He fixed it and I was playing again when BOOM!! It happened again... So I left my 360 where it was for like 5 weeks until all my friends were getting Halo 3 and I was like I NEED 360 ALIVE!!!!! So I found a professional place and was gonna get it fixed when my dad found out it was $45 not $25. So then I followed a tutorial to fix it myself. Turned it on and... Green Lights came on then 2 red lights, it got loud, and shut off. I WAS LIKE WTF!!!!! So the next day I try the penny fix. Turn it on and... It doesn't even turn on... 3 red lights... Please... HELP ME!!!
I'm gonna try to get rid of the penny fix and hope it works (fingers crossed) Then I'm gonna take it to pro people.
No u can fix it go to radio shack buy some thermal grease and plastic washers and small screws and open the 360 and take off the clamp and take off the heat sinks and clean off the grease with alcohol and buff the gpu and put the new past on and put the new screws on the back do not put the clamp on

you can not fix it yourself, or you'll void xbox 360 warranty policy. If your xbox is flashing red, you have set off the red-ring-of-death, also known as (rrod) the ring itself is telling you your xbox has been damaged and needs to be fixed (not by you tho, but by the xbox company). This can be mostly caused by poor airflow thru the system and overheating from the cause of it. For future reference, try to research about keeping your xbox from having this happen. One thing you will less likely find in this search for help , is that you should avoid having your xbox 360 standing up. I know you can have it standing up the long way, because it looks more awsome this way, but the thing about that is, your giving the console less air ventilation from flowing thru the xbox that is needed. put the xbox on its flat side with all air vents showing and not blocked. This will cause less of a chance from getting (rrod) again.
Also known as the red ring of death. or (RROD)
Ebay offers some fixes, one my freind did was turn it on and wrap a towel around it, it worked but I thought it was highly dangerous! This turned out to be a tempory fix.
Game world direct (google it) may also offer a solution, and have good rep.
Make sure everything is connected & if U R still stuck with the RROD. If your warranty period has expired,I would just go buy a used one from game stop and pay $10.00 for the year warranty. my orginal xbox lasted around 5 years before I got the rrod. I bought a used one at gamestop for about 50-60 dollars but they are only covered for 30 days. so one would be stupid to not pay 10 dollars for a year warranty. My first one did not last long but what was cool is when they repaced it the year warranty started from there now. I still have it and it works great & I have the 360 and knock on wood that I've had no probs with it but I noticed with both xboxes that I would get that red ring when something was not connected?
your xbox is gunna get the rrod soon (red rings of death) my xbox had this prodlem few days later rrod happend technically the only thing you can do is well w8 for it to get the rrod and send it in if you got your warranty still if no warrenty is on it well have fun paying 140$ to get this problem fixed or go on youtube after it rrods and look up the xclamp repairs for xbox 360 i have used it on several xbox 360s it seems to work fine after words
If this is the same problem I had, mine went for 2 weeks, everyday with me pushing the on button and it stood there like a giant powerless paperweight. Then one day it just suddenly turned on, unfortunately it turned on with RRoD. I'm actually familiar with repairing the RRoD problem, however its been a month now and everything i've tried it just stays on RED Ring of Death. So sorry this isn't a solution, but if you be patient, maybe yours will turn back on without RRoD
