I have a funlock 004D/004, the lower looped broke and I replaced it with one I ordered online. It makes a chain when I run it but when I try to sew fabric nothing catches. Any suggestions?

you have to make sure the looper is properly positioned. With the screw loosened slightly you should be able to move the looper up and down slightly, thus adjusting the timing. You are looking for the lower looper tip to come in slightly above the needle eyes, as close as possible without touching. Then the upper looper must come in right behind the lower looper "head" as close as possible without touching. The upper looper should then extend past the left needle by about 2-2.5mm, and the needles will come down before the eye of the upper looper returns to the right.

Where can I get a manual for bernette fun lock 006D

Serger manuals for early machines are really basic.

Thread in order.

upper looper, lower looper, right needle, left needle. (see the inside of the looper cover door.)

Adjust tensions to suit the fabric you are sewing.

If you need to change colors clip threads near the spools and tie on new spools to previous threads and draw threads through an already threaded machine.

Bernina is the brand. But I believe early models of the serger were made by Juki. I've looked for the manual for 006 as well and found thinging. Your only other choice is find someone who has one for sale and ask for a scanned copy.... or order a new one from Bernina or one of the other places that has one.

Why does the 4th thread keeps breaking on my serger? I've re-threadedi it a dozen times carefully following the diagram. What am I doing wrong?

Most likely it is either your tension on thay thread being too high, or the needle is too big for the project you are working. Lower that tension, use the next size up needle, and thay should fix it. Also, I STRONGLY suggest only using maxi-locks thread. They are more expensive than other serger threads, but they are always half-price at hancock... Any other thread I have tried using causes breakage, especially on the the lower looper (the 4th thread). Although, of you keep the tension low-below 3 or so, you should be ok. If these tips don't help, I would also check your cutting width, if your machine has an adjustable one. If it is leaving too much gabric to the right of the needles, out is conceivable that this is putting too much pressure on the threads. Let me know if this helps!

The lower looper keeps breaking thread

Hi,...if the lower looper thread is breaking before you sew six inches or more then I suspect a threading problem. When the lower looper thread breaks, You MUST unthread the needles before you thread the lower looper. Thread the looper and then rethread the needles.

Hope that helps,
Doug

Bernina 2500DCET serger keeps breaking the centre needle thread for no apparent reason .Already had machine serviced, new needle plate didn't solve anything either. Any ideas

I have found with any serger I have used that you have to cut the looper (bottom) threads before re threading the needle threads. You then rethread the loopers.
If you don't do this, the needle threads keep breaking. Hope this helps.

I've lost my manual and video need threading info

One of the most common mistakes with overlockers is that the threads must always be threaded in order. So if you sew about 1 inch and the thread breaks try unthreading the eyes of the needles rethread the looper and then rethread the eyes of thew needles. If not you will get the same result of sewing about 1 inch and it will break again.

Lower looper

It is impossible for a looper to come unthreaded if you are holding one end and the other is still feeding off the spool. Somewhere a thread broke - must be either the upper looper or the needle. Try completely re-threading your machine. Many machines have an "order" they prefer to be threaded. Try starting from the right tension guide and work to the left.
