Make your television and vcr where you can change channels through the vcr. The television should be set on 3 and the vcr should have a blue(default) screen. You should be able to surf through the channels using your vcr. As long as you can change channels with your vcr remote, you should be able to record any station that you are currently viewing.

Yes coming in her VCR with Cable or antenna, if she has satellite it would be different. Going out to tv from VCR. Then in is Input the Out is Output. RF cable connection or A/V inputs(jacks) either one same way of hookup.

also It’s probably because you’re also using a cable box. The VCR or Combo will need to stay on channel 3 (or 4) at all times. You will need to use your cable box remote to tune the channels. For a timer recording, the VCR/Combo should be set to record channel 3 (or 4) and the cable box should be turned on and tuned to the channel you wish to record before the timer program begins.

I don't know what cable receiver you have there, can you change the channel on the cable instead on the vcr?

if you have the channel set from the cable box and you get the channel (set on the box) for example on the vcr channel 01 then you should be able to record it with no problems.

If I understood your set up correctly.

When you change a channel, do you change it on the vcr or on the tv?

  • Ekse Jun 24, 2009

could you go over how its all hooked up?

  • Ekse Jun 24, 2009

You have cable going to your VCR, and from VCR its connected to tv on the front and noting else, and you change the channels on the television and not on the vcr? how is that possible.

Connect a cable from the cable to your vcr, connect a cable from the back of the vcr into the tv. Set the tv to the Vcr's channel and use the vcr to change the channels.

use the menu option on the vcr remote, scan the channels and try again.

I purchased a RCA DRC-8335 DVD/VCR RECORDER COMBO

For anyone who has an RCA DRC 8335 with dvd Recorder, here is a suggestion.
If your tapes have been recorded in SLP Mode, om another player, I can tell you they will NOT play on this thing!!
So, merely take another VCR, and a blank tape, Place the blank tape into the RCA DRC 8335 VCR side, and then, go to its Set-Up Menu, and go to OUTPUT. On the "ACTION BAR"Change the the RCA's output to "FRONT" and then, play the VCRr you stuck on top of the RCA!!
When the inage on the "Source tape is shown,
Record onto the RCA, in SLP Mode, Now, it will play, just fine.
Hope this helps. Jon (Found BY Accident!!)

How to record ditigally on old comb tv/vhs

If you have the box hooked up to your 1996 combo turn or tune on channel 3 if the converter box is selected to channel 3 you should get all your digital reception from the box to your tv/vcr. Select what you want to watch or tape on the box, what you see on your tv will record to your vcr when you select record.

Tv/digital converter box & vcr-dvd hook-up

I have a vhs and dvd player all in one
I have a converter box hooked up to my tv and vcr , dvd player combined
I can play my movies on the tv. ok.
you have to have your tv and vcr set on channel 3. if that is what your main tv is set up with. Or 4 if you have your tv set up with that.
Mine plays ok. My settings are for channel 3
My suggestion would be to check your hook ups. maybe they are not hooked up correctly
I had to go to www.google.com and did searches to help with hook up.
I can also record station I am watching with vcr on vsh tapes. I do not have a dvd recorder.
I found out that you have to have 2 converter boxes hooked to one tv., in order to record on on station while watching another. I have not tried that, as I don't have 2 converter boxes for one tv. I found that by doing google search also. Good Luck

VCR plays tape with only sound and some channels seem deleted.

Needs the vcr heads cleaned, and get a universal remote with a menu button to change the tuner setup.
